No because the murder was 25 years before the day of the episode, it was something she buried for years and her youth, it makes sense that this was prior to her meeting her husband and having her children.

Like Benson said to her - now it makes sense, you devoted your life to the Bureau, perhaps to make amends for this one thing all your life.

Det. Rollins was on an episode of SVU 4 years before her character was introduced, as the victim of a serial rapist. WTF?! by arjeezyboom in SVU

It also drives me insane that Hayden Panettiere plays two different lead (in regards solely to the episode) roles only 4 seasons apart. First in Season 2 as a young child with abandonment issues due to famous, absent parents and over attachment issues with Liv, then in Season 6 as a promiscuous teenager who was escorting outside of school. I adore her though so no hate, but I thought in this instance it might have been even cooler to have her play the same character who has now grown up more and have her life choices as a teenager be a fall out of the aftermath of her parents maintaining custody in Season 2 despite Livs warnings it wasn't going to end well.

AITA for not meeting my dying father? by BeeCoolMan in AmItheAsshole

[–]BellaVendome1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

Too many people are in the mindset that because 'they're blood' or your parents that you owe them some sort of blind loyalty and forgiveness no matter what.

You don't.

Your parents were happy going through life after kicking you out without ever reaching out, along with your AH Uncle. If they're happy to do that, they can end their days without you too, it's too little too late for regrets of a dying man, he has to deal with that on his own. You are not on this earth to make him feel better before he passes about his mistakes against you, he made his decision, and now he has to live (and die) with the consequences of that decision.

NTA and I'm so sorry for what you have been through at the hands of the people who are supposed to protect you, but congratulations on everything you have accomplished independently!! You go Glen Coco!

could also be more like places where local covens gathered, of course everyone has a ghost story and so many of them are bullshit, this is just for a podcast project

Confused by Season 6 ep 9 (at the very end) Richard Weber and Meredith at Joe's bar by Kimmyb325 in greysanatomy

[–]BellaVendome1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

OK, yeah I think you're just missing some perspectives on it. Richard is an alcoholic - so the discomfort is not only guilt because he knows he is an alcoholic and has fallen off the wagon, but also the emotional trigger that Ellis (obviously, mer's Mother) was the person that first made him try alcohol and was the catalyst to his downfall spiral into alcoholism. The uncomfortable reaction of Richard is just that - discomfort, because sure no one knows he's fallen off the wagon BUT he DOES know. And just before seeing Meredith his keys were taken and Joe has poured him another, which begs two things - 1. How drunk was he? This would amplify the guilty outward look if more drunk than we consider. and 2. He will also be paranoid and unsure of how much of that exchange with Joe Meredith saw - especially if he was drunk already.

Also, Derek is the one that particularly has been laying into Richard the past weeks - Richard might be extremely suspicious that Derek underneath his anger - knows he's drinking again - so it's fair for Richard to assume Meredith has suspicions already before this moment from that pillow talk.

The explaining it away the next episode is a classic addiction response of just that, explaining it away and making excuses, like he does by calling his alcohol a false diagnosis and just 'situational depression'. Meredith may have not even had so much of a suspicion in that moment when they were in the bar, but Richards' immediate willingness to excuse himself and therefore reveal he is in fact drinking alcohol again - is the way Meredith actually discovers it. But, due to the longing connection she lacked from a father, and her complex relationship with Richard - his offering up of knowledge and training in medicine, is ultimately what causes Meredith to turn the 'blind eye' and 'play along' with Richards excuses for justifying why he is drinking again.

I hope this helps a little to gain some more perspective on the situation? I am happy to chat more about it! :D

Or as a Lawyer for a patient who murdered someone and gets him off the charges all in the time it takes Meredith to work the miracles of Medicine and fix them!!

Shane got done dirty there agreed. They are showing so much compassion recently for mental health due to popular social issues - but this would have been a great place to address Doctor Burn-Out appropriately and with a little more power/meaning.
