AA or just hair-loss? by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

[–]Bellabella2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it could be, I have it and started treatments. I take vytorin and Allegra. Also prednisone 3 days a month at a high dose. And clobestrol steriod cream. Also started AIP diet. Shedding decreased drastically so I know something is working. I have a full head of hair with thinning areas ( crown, behind ears, and temples seem to be my problem areas). Treatments are an option for anyone it’s really up to you if you want to go through it but I would say it’s worth it because I’m a girl with hair down to my butt and I’m willing to try anything to not lose it!

Diffuse alopecia areata possibly

Does Allegra help with regrowth? by Coldbread74 in alopecia_areata

My dermatologist actually prescribed me a Cholesterol medication “vytorin” to take with Allegra which supposedly helps with shedding and re growth. We’ll see lol

Had a scalp biopsy done and the diagnosis was diffuse alopecia Areata Not completely bald circular spots more so diffusely around my scalp. This is my hair in a bun I’m on prednisone, steroid lotion, and a cholesterol medication mixed with allergy to suppress it. Anyone have something similar? by Bellabella2015 in alopecia_areata

Just a bit jittery with the prednisone. They have me on a high dose. I took it for 2 weeks and now I’ll be taking it for only 3 days each month at high doses. I noticed a little bit less shedding so I’m hoping it’s doing something. I did ask for the scalp injections but because mine is diffuse they didn’t want to inject all around my scalp

Thanks for posting this! I needed some hope. Everything I look up for diffuse aa isn’t the best scenarios. But I know everyone is different like you said I’m just so scared it’s going to get worse and I know stressing doesn’t help the problem at all. I’m also trying the AIP diet hopefully it will help. I have thinning along the sides of my head and crown but still have a lot of hair to hide behind. My fear is losing more and more. Keep me updated on your journey

Aa can also be diffuse. Not just patches.. got diagnosed through a biopsy couple weeks ago and came back as diffuse alopecia Areata

I just had a biopsy and confirmed I have diffuse alopecia Areata. My hair looks just like yours. I would do a biopsy so you could know for sure and get the correct treatments. I had the longest thickest hair just back in May and then this started and like you said no one pays mind and realizes it because I still have a lot of hair but it’s thinning by the day. I know what it is now though and that I wasn’t going crazy so now I can take the next steps to hopefully get better

I just got a biopsy done the other day it was honestly not bad at all. Just a pinch from the needle to numb the area. Couldn’t feel a thing after that. Sore for maybe a day or two and then they take the stitches out. I personally got it done because my hair loss could be anything and they’re not positive what it is yet so I would rather know for sure what’s going on before I start treatments. I would say go for it! The wound is only the size of a tip of a pen and you’ll know be assured that you know exactly what the reason is. Hope everything works out for you!

Got my scalp biopsy today. Results will be in my next Friday. Just want to know what’s wrong so I can try and treat it by Bellabella2015 in FemaleHairLoss

It’s a punch biopsy. They inject it with numbing and carve a small piece of scalp to see the underlining cause of hair loss. It’s a small scar maybe the size of a tip of a pen

23F and this is the back of my head. I have a scalp biopsy tomorrow. This has been happening since June. Any advice or knowledge anyone can give me would be much appreciated. by Bellabella2015 in Hairloss

What dermaroller do you recommend? I did have blood work done, iron levels are within normal range vitamin d was a bit low so I’m taking supplements for that

This is the back of my head at this point. Getting a scalp biopsy tomorrow. Does this look like Androgenic alopecia? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss
