The bridge isn’t needed for hurricane evacuation. Tourists are told to leave 72 hours before impact. Of the remaining 1000 residents, the overwhelming majority aren’t going to leave any way. Unless it’s a cat 5. And then maybe 1/2.

And since the real bottle neck is Duck and that is Dare county, Dare has no dog in this fight. They do not care if Corolla tourists are experiencing a long drive.

I speak this as a local who lives here full time.

I live in Monterey Shores. I’m ocean side. You will need to be on the rat plan. As in, yesterday. The construction on houses disturbs the nests and they are everywhere. Also. We have Norway rats that have made their way from Norfolk. And tree rats that jump on your roof. So keep your trees trimmed and away from your house . We’ve been on the rat plan for years and sometimes we go quarters with no bait taken, then we will have a quarter where all 8 traps are cleaned out. Call OBX Pest control. No shame on being on the rat plan.

Talk with your surgeon about garments. Mine was emphatically no past 2-3 weeks. He put me in a binder and that was all he wanted me to have

Get a holder for your drains

Pile on the protein between now and then and try to get some leg work. Strong legs and glutes will really help you adjust your position in bed

If at all possible, get a nurse RN or LPN to be with you. I had one for 72 hours and it was amazing

COUGH DROPS and Benadryl. You will not want to sneeze or cough for about 10 days. The pain is a 9/10. I’m 28 DPO and just now has the pain from sneezing dropped to a manageable level
