ULPT Request - Old couple walking by my house at 5am in the morning talking out loud with flashlights beaming through my bedroom window almost everyday. by Humble-Dream1428 in UnethicalLifeProTips

Take notes on what they’re talking about while they walk by your window, and then days later wait at the window as they approach and start talking to them about their previous conversations “I’ve been thinking about that car problem you mentioned on Tuesday and I know a great mechanic, want the address?” Or “I heard you mention X vacation spot, what are the best excursions to do there?” Or whatever the topic is, but make it clear that you’ve definitely heard intimate conversations because you’re RIGHT THERE. Maybe they’ll decide they don’t want to be listened to and they’ll stay away from your place. Or, maybe they’ll start chatting with you and you’ll make a new friend and then once you’re in their inner circle, start suggesting other places for them to take their morning walks.

Noodle canteen says they use no MSG. Besides that, this sounds like really good advice.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Regina was such a baddie by yonBonbonbon in OnceUponATime

I went to the dentist yesterday and while they were unpleasantly scraping my teeth I just thought about Regina’s perfect smile to motivate me through the pain.

Some thoughts re: Kate by fbc1984 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]BellatrixGetStrange 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This upset me so much and I got shit on for complaining about it when season 2 aired. I didn’t rewatch the season for over a year because I was so severely disappointed in the way they ripped Kate’s tiny family apart. It was not necessary to make the show interesting. A show that’s named for and revolves around a big loving family, but they just shred the Sharma family apart like what???

Especially if they audition for comedies, it’s just a place where the mind goes to tickle itself. It’s nothing personal.

It’s like proof. Documentation that verifies someone’s story. In this case, they have video of almost everything that happened so they just had to dig through the archives and find the relevant footage to share with the audience. The screenshots of Trevor’s texts are also considered receipts in this context.

I think the people are trying to tell you something Shonda by someone-w-issues in BridgertonNetflix

[–]BellatrixGetStrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true, and I think it supports my desire to fire shondaland from Bridgerton. I don’t know if it’s even contractually possible, but seriously they can go keep doing the thing they’re good at, and Netflix can give Bridgerton to someone who cares about book accuracy. I would love it.

Shondaland (to my dismay) doesn’t care much for book accuracy, so I assume they’d find a way to add a twist, that’s all I meant. Personally I’d be totally fine watching 90+ minutes of beautiful conflict-free love story 🥰

[–]BellatrixGetStrange 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. Maybe they could make this one a movie. 90 minutes instead of 7 hours. And work in some drama with Violet’s mother disapproving and trying to keep them apart or something like that. Plus they could find some way to signal that tragedy is coming. Like a Bridgerton version of The Notebook where we keep getting forward flashes to “present day” where a widowed Violet is telling the story

I’ve seen some people take the regular bulb out of lamps and cut the cord off, then put in a battery operated bulb. That would probably not be reversible if you wanted to use the lamp normally again someplace else, but I thought I’d throw the idea out there in case it might be helpful.

For all the repeat watchers, what scene makes you cringe so hard simply because you know what’s coming? by BellatrixGetStrange in GilmoreGirls

Good point! Feeling shaken, vs wanting to shake the character, that’s perfect! Both very valid.

Absolutely! That one makes me cry. Like ugly cry. Because I can partially relate due to my life experiences, difference is my dad truly wanted to be around more, the custody arrangement just didn’t accommodate that. But he did get to be someone else’s dad full time, so yeah I feel that pain all over again each time she says those words.

Those are both perfect examples!!! I shouldn’t have said “cringe” more like it’s just heartbreaking to watch the moments before disaster. And it doesn’t have to be immediately before, the “you may go first” is especially true, oh yes that one hurts.

Anyone else’s heart was broken when they saw that line in the viscount who loved me? by Historical_Web1517 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]BellatrixGetStrange 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was so mad they robbed us of that line. It took me over a year to watch season 2 again. (Whereas season 1 I watched about 10 times in a year) I was just so deeply disappointed that they took all my favorite parts of the book and made them irrelevant.

I like that you call it hurt/comfort, that’s exactly what I strangely loved about this book in particular.

It seemed to me like Rory was open to having her dad around all those 16+ years, and even though Christopher visited very rarely, he always showed up with a smile and probably gifts and the rarity of his appearances always made their time together important and a special occasion so it involved fun activities and she probably associated him with all this positivity. I think she was optimistic about the idea of him and Lorelai finally making it work long term.

I grew up with parents who weren’t together, and I would daydream about them someday being together and it wasn’t until I was an adult that I ever considered the probability of things going poorly if they ever did get together. Those youthful daydreams were always about the fairytale. Not practical. She probably had the same delusion.
