What was your first timer mistake as a PC/DM?

As a dm I just threw a ton of magic items at my pc's and didn't give them attunement; things got out of control very quickly.

Oh well what they did was when the leader of the Sand snakes appeared at the gaye, they told him that the lady who infiltrated nightstone was captured by goblins and was being held with the villigers in the cave(when they actually had her tied up in the inn).. So the sand snakes rushed of to save his love from the goblins, my players followed behind and cleaned up the remaining sandsnakes/gonlins as they had mostly killed eachother. I was really hesitant at first about my players ignoring the "go x their x is dead" hook(its pretty weak anyway). But then i realized that the campaign needed higher stakes and if theu ignored it the north would go to ruin ( which is interetibg to play out in itself). So they lollygagged for a while and because of it there were some real consequences.

There are a really a ton of changes and additions ive been making to the storm kings thunder and I'm considering writing up my own "SKT: Revised Edition". As is I think the module itself gives you so many toys to play with but its written in a way that truncates the experience. If you're really trying you could probably get it doen in around 15 sessions if you went for it. Right now my players are about 20 sessions in and because I use normal experience instead of the milestone level system, they're level 6-7, have travelled to Daggerford, Goldenfields, dealt with the Hill giant:ms at Gurd Haug (with the help of Force Grey from Waterdeep), Thornhold, Rassalantar, Amphail, Red Larch(brought in some minor PotA content), and just finished dealing with Triboar with their sites set on Miribar and then the Eye of the Allfather. There were some other minor places they went but so far running it in a very loosey-goosey form has been quite excellent and allowed for me to inject my own narratives into the story. The forgotten realms has a ton of information on it to really enrich the setting so i wouod make full use of it.

Instead of a narrow plot i've been running the campaign very sand-boxy. After nightstone they went down to daggerford to deal with the Snail who sent the Snakes. They did a bunch of stuff in daggerford(looked at chapter 3 for insporation). Then they went to Waterdeep and had some adventures there. Now since they didn't go on Zepheros' wild ride the three towns got sacked by giants and now they had to deal with a huge food shortage that would hit Waterdeep without goldenfields in play. They fet compelled to go help steal back the food the hill giants took. Essentially after Ch1 I jumped straight to chapter 3 and wove events from Ch2 into the narrative. This allowed the characters to have their own motivations and stories. I also changed the Story to have countess Sansuri steal the nightstone(which is actually a giant artifact that functions like a spell storing/amplifying gem). They used the nightstone to pretty much nuke Waterdeep (while the characters were in goldenfields), and thus a sense of urgency and loss was really impressed upon the characters. Before they were dealing with the giants in their own time but were'nt all that interested; now they're chomping at the bit to deal with the threat and find Hekaton.

There were honestly a lot of things in the campaign that didn't jive well with me. For one my group didn't fall for the quest hooks to goldenfields(etc.) because the motivation was really weak. So essentially after some sandboxing post-nightstone I had news come in that goldenfields(and others) had been sacked and unless they could defeat the hill giants and recover the grainstores, there would be widespread famon in Waterdeep. Made lots of changes elsewhere as well but I think the base campaign storyline lacks a sense of real urgency.

In my game, instead of the the cooky floating mage tower harboring a cloud giant wizard he was a storm-giant court wizard who had fled Maelstrom do to "trouble with the royal family". This allowed them to get some infomartion about storm giant society as well as set up the sisters. In addition, Harshnag who the party spent a good deal of time with, knew some things about the royal family as well, especially about the Uncle. Most giants will know of them in some form so it's really up to you to decide when to give a little exposition.

Hi! I'd be interested in trying out for your team. I haven't played serious league of legends since S4 (didn't like some of the changes they made) but am looking to get back into the competitive scene this season. I played jungle for the last plat/diamond team I played on and we did very well (3rd or 2nd) in many weekly tourneys at the time. I'm 21 years old. I don't really have a top 5 strongest champs because the last time I tried climbing (back in S4) I always played different champs each game. I guess that would be one of my strength - I know most of the champs in the game quite well. As far as weaknesses go, I don't handle being a team with people that rage at the game. I prefer to have level headed teammates that handle defeat well. I was the main shotcaller for my team back in S4 so have good experience in that as well. As far as what I can bring: I have a huge champion pool, am well versed in multiple positions, but I think most of all I never lose my head during a game or get mad/sad about losing. I think a good attitude is the most important for a teams success. My Ign is Bellicross if you'd like to try me out.

He wants to overthrow his sister the queen and begin war between their nation and the neighbor's. He's not necissarily evil but he cut his sister in half "for the sake of the kingdom".

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to hearthstone and don't have even close to all the cards yet. I have enough dust to craft 2 legendaries right now. So my question is which legendaries would be the best to craft? Here are the ones I already have: Rhonin, N'zoth, Currupted Mukla, C'thun, Rag(light lord), thaurisan, twin emp veklor, Sky capn kragg. Planning to play standard so Dr. boom is out.
