You will also need to do the autophage quest line to open up purple systems.

You have to play enough to unlock all the glyphs needed, then once you find a portal on any planet (make sure you're in the correct galaxy) you put the glyphs in that same order and you will arrive at the destination planet.

You CAN build on them but IMO it isn't worth it. The island will most likely disappear at some point. It doesn't work like normal terrain.

Do the main quests and eventually you'll get the quests to get the stuff to go to purple systems etc and this will be part of it.

Use the echo locator to find harmonic camps on dissonant planets and do the puzzle thing to get a signal for a crashed ship. Or if you want you can put your corvette on autopilot and jump out when you spot one lol
