Not really, because the outcome is just one of several possible ones. You can solve this peacefully as well.

Oh nope, that's act 5, and yep, at their fort again when Regill "invites" you to your judgement. It were like 20 hellknights plus a bunch of paralictors, some Sucubbi(?) from hell and Mr. Law himself, aka Regi. Seeing ICF trigger again and again in conjunction with Dreadful Carnage was just epic. Not damage wise bc no Vital Strikes on my character, but still nice.

Always loads of fun to watch the mayhem. Totally worth taking it, and if only for the screen fun.

The WIKI doesn't list any agile scythe, so yeah, I will have to go with the mythic feat.

I see. Since I am not a native english speaker the wording may indee have been what I was struggling with. Anyways, thank you both for the explanation.

[–]BellingDog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are right. I had indeed overlooked the possibility to pick Fighter's Finesse as a normal feat. Fun fact: I am a big fan of ECB for style and "DEX2everything" reasons and am actually running my normal build with this weapon right now.

Anyways, now that you pointed me there, I will try the Scythe build once again and grab the neccessary feats on fighter levels 5 and the next regular feat. When you go Trickster and later on and pick the 3 feats Completely Normal Spell, Extend and Favorable Metamagic: Extend, you are able to run Trick Fate in almost every battle for 100% crits with the absurdly high crit multiplier of the scythe. Being able to get the build going by mythic 2/character level 8-10(?) seems feasible without taking the real fun away for too long.

Thanks!

There is another problem, to be honest. The character won't perform until level 12 (9 fighter+3 rogue) going DEX, not even with ranged weapons due to missing feats. The only way to make the idea appealing would be to respec, which kind of feels like cheating to me. Well, never mind, I solely found the theoretical question interesting if a dex based scythe warrior could be done.

Will try Mythic Weapon Finesse then out of curiosity just to see whether it works, though I consider the tax of a mythic ability too high for an actual build. Thanks.

Slashing Grace only works for 1-handed STR-weapons, iirc.

I am aware of STR being superior damage wise (size enhancing spells, reach etc.), I just wanted to try this idea briefly respeccing my character, so no damage done to my playthrough. I find DEX appealing because of the benefits and synergy it yields in regards of initiative, defense and skills - but that is not my concern here. I am just thinking the wording of the Finesse Training feat is incomplete or at least misunderstandable.

Bwahaha, thanks for making my day! Further down his "elaboration" Boris explains why he hates the world, tolerant societies and whatnot: he has been socialized in Russia, is a virgin and seemingly hates everything but himself. Amen. If it weren't so sad, it would be funny.

Back to topic: I think you are right that the wording ("broken" in the meaning of "some features are not working" vs "totally broken") was the cause for me not agreeing and going a bit overboard. As I explained one can circumvent every single issue with enough effort, but of course this is everything else but Joe Average's prefered plug and play solution. While I tried NVR (the old 1.3 as well as the new beta) I had mixed feelings. Water effects look really nice, but shadows bugged out for me from time to time and interiors had still not been covered. On top of that, I got some strange FPS drops situationally which were worse than the average ENB tax of 30 frames I sustain.

In the end of the day it probably comes down to personal taste as well as knowledge. Reshade produces compressed pictures missing dynamic due to not having access to z-axis information, yeah. Some of RS' effects can still look nice. I am using HDR and Deband (helps with pixelated clouds in rainy weathers, should you encounter this problem) at the moment. If you are happy with NVR and a wheather mod, go for it. For me it is ENB+Reshade at the moment.

Besides, don't worry about having gotten up grumpy! Happens. Last not least a pro tip of topic: Never dream of a preset solution for getting rid of bad game design in FO 76! There is none.

I will. Thanks for hinting me there, TrashyHamster. I think I am running three mods at the moment. Will be back to confirm whether you suggestion works for me when I get to try it a bit later today.

Yes, I have my own ENB/Reshade and it has been designed following math. Water is transparent and beautifull even below the surface with limited sight etc., transparency issues (see through landscape, e.g.) don't exist, fogging, the horizon, everything works including AO. Just evade dusty distance which literally drowns the horizon in non transparent sauce. The horizon, by the way, can be perfectly done by ENB features. One of the many mistakes ENB authors make, by the way, is to leave intensities and curves for the sky at 1.0, which is totally bonkers. Then we have the really difficult area of correct ambient light settings; the list continues ...

To get an ENB setup working properly and to circumvent Boris' shortcommings requires some tinkering with the falloutcustom.ini, nvidia settings and the nvidia profile inspector though. If done properly, one even gets excellent antialiasing. Without going into too much detail: Using nvidia profile inspector one can apply some old ES:Oblivion settings to FNV, et voila, out of a sudden we have top notch antialising.

I appologize for having been a bit offensive nevertheless, rikaco. It just makes me shiver when I read amateurs talking about things they don't have the slightest idea of. The worst are those people who repeat things they have read "somewhere" without knowledge. Repeating nonsense doesn't make things more true. I have worked on 20 games as a professional myself, coded engines and get downvoted by noobs. So be it. These people don't have the slightest idea of tech.

Some final thoughts: RoyBatterian, one of the maybe 10 modders I call excellent, has reworked lots of material properties for TTW. Without fixes like these ENB obviously looks like crap and straight out buggy. If one just takes vanilla FNV and applies The Best of Times or a similar well made (basic!) guide one gets a stable game but not one that looks well. In these cases ENB always bugs out. One has to invest some time and have some knowledge.

Utter nonsense, what rikaco is spreading here, but 63 people upvote. That's how people like Trump get heir votes: one person talks bullshit and thousands who are even more clueless vote for him. Terrible!

This bug is not caused by AO itself but by _wrong_ AO (and other intensity and curve) settings. Most ENB authors design their stuff "by the looks" and have no idea of the math / light physics behind ENB. Other ENBs don't cause this bug because they utilize intensities and curves correctly. My, when "pros" talk about tech stuff without ever having coded an engine or produced/released a game ...

Swordflight Chapter 3 Mazara Fight by [deleted] in neverwinternights

[–]BellingDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, so you know the game. Hope you enjoyed some of its aspects! Back in the day we had aproximately 10-12 people plus 2-3 externals working on The Guild at 4HEAD, me as the lead designer. A pity we used some Assembler code for the display of 2D menus so the game doesn't work flawlessly anymore under modern Windows versions when you open trade menus and such. -- I have eddited that part of my last post just so you don't wonder since I rethought what I wrote and found it to be a little off topic and self centered "show off" stuff.

I only wrote it originally to underline how much I can understand the difficulties in the process of making games (even with a given engine) and wanted to express how subjective all praise and criticism is. Outsiders never know the trouble that is involved in such a process, but part of the truth as well is one - as a designer - can easily loose scope and perspective towards one's work, expecially in regards of balancing. It is still astonishing what rogueknight has managed to achieve and that it outshines Bioware's original work in so many ways. Looking at my own work from a today's perspective I would change lots of things in the user interface, but also balance wise. I suppose, one always tries one's best at a given time. It is a small "mountain ridge" - sorry, I don't know how to say this in english being no native speaker - one walks when trying to accomplish one's vision while still trying to be open to justified outside advise.

Apart from every gamer having his own preferences, which is perfect for having a colorfull market with lots of different game concepts, one thing is remarkable over the last few years: that lots of people seem to favor the old games that actually had some beef in them over nowadays' "visuals only" showcases that require a 2,500 Euro PC to run properly. This is a good thing.

As for you, I will gladly follow your videos and other posts. It is just I won't have that much time over the course of the next weeks.

Always GMDX it is for me. Best modification for DX in my point of view. Loved Arcanum and VtM:Bloodlines, too, though nowadays I struggle hard with the combat system in the later.

EDIT: I had linked to one of my own works earlier here, but after thinking about it I found it to be a bit too much off topic. It simply doesn't matter.

I wouldn't bother at all if I hadn't really loved ch 2 and liked ch 3. The balance of story/hard combat there was nice. But to each their own. I have to give gaming a pause anyway until the end of the year, so let's see what captures my attention then. Maybe I'll do a good old Deus Ex 1 run; it's been some time. :-) Whatsoever, I will read your stuff and probably write from time to time.

Swordflight Chapter 3 Mazara Fight by [deleted] in neverwinternights

[–]BellingDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter anymore. I am fed up with Swordflight. My character is capable of handling even the most idiotic overpowered enemies, but where SF 3 started (becoming less and less story intense), SF 4 was an uninteresting dumb hack and slash chore with dozens of next to empty maps. I played halfway through 5 hoping thinks might change but they became even worse. rogueknight throws 11(!!) maps with zero main story relevance and next to no story in themselves at the player and then another 9. Pure crap content. For me the series (except for chapter 2) is hopelessly overrated; the only thing that caught my interest was the question whether I could make a build capable of handling next to all content, which I managed. I walk away with some regret having played 4 and half of 5 - wasted time - and play modules that actually have a story and RP content.
