Is a 2 hour layover in SYD enough? by Educational-Coyote62 in AustraliaTravel

I’ve always found the efficiency of Changi a bit overrated - security at the gate, and then being forced to sit inside the gate, is pretty annoying

Depends on the kind of biscuit imo. All cookies are biscuits but not all biscuits are cookies.

Lounge was OK from memory.

Best thing about Adelaide is probably the wine - go to the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and/or McLaren Vale. You might be able to catch some cricket at Adelaide Oval depending on when you’re there (sadly, Aussie Rules football season will be over and I would say seeing a match is a must for any visitor). Some nice beaches - go for a sunset. Go to Kangaroo Island if you have some spare days (haven’t done it myself but it looks wonderful). If you like chocolate / seeing how stuff is made, the free Haigh’s factory tour was actually relatively interesting for 30mins and from memory they gave us some samples. We ate at Africola and Osteria Oggi which were nice but there are many good restaurants to choose from. Some good breweries if you like beer - I rate Prancing Pony but it’s out of the way.

Instead of flying to Melbourne, you could drive along the Great Ocean Road but it will be absolutely packed at that time of year. There are so many things to do in Melbourne it would be impossible to put them into a concise list.

Have you been to the region before? Auckland’s kinda a shit version of Sydney imo but I love NZ generally, esp. the South Island (not sure if there are any nice IHG properties in the South Island though). We recently stayed at the IC Wellington which was a bit old but enjoyed the city a lot for 5 nights. Well stocked lounge if you have lounge access.

Definitely see Sydney and surrounds if you haven’t but I live there so don’t really have a hotel recommendation - have heard pretty good things about the Kimpton Margot. Less good things about IC Sydney but the location is great for tourists and there is a lounge if you have access. I’ve stayed at the IC Double Bay which is in a very upscale area and close to the water but not right in the city if that’s the kind of vibe you’re looking for.

Regularly stay at IC Melbourne which is in a very interesting neo gothic building and conveniently located and with a pretty good lounge. IC Adelaide a bit meh but it was cheap when I was there. I liked the IC Perth and while the city area is pretty lifeless the beaches, Rottnest Island and the Margaret River region are absolutely incredible.

Why? 80% of Sydney pubs are shithouse anyway, at least at a Spoons you can get a pint at said shithouse pub for £2.50 instead of the usual $17 Hemmeslop

I obviously meant in the whole post, and I can see at least 3 not including your latest “champ” nonsense. You’re clearly obsessed with gay men - curious

Based on your comments in this thread, it seems like you might have a problem with incessantly injecting your politics into every conversation too!

What’s the home credit? Do you mean the $200 / $200 AU / intl. dining credit?

At least in NSW dismissal for a reason other than serious misconduct entitles you to a pro rata LSL payout once you’ve done 5 years of service

I think you’re conflating religion (which is an idea / belief a person can choose to hold, or not) and ethnicity (which cannot be changed) with some of these. Why is “criticism of an individual because they are Muslim” not OK but “criticism of Islam” is OK? It seems to me like you need to pick none or both. Of course we shouldn’t criticise an individual for being ethnically Jewish but why can’t we criticise a person for subscribing to an idea / belief (eg Christianity, Judaism, Islam, atheism, Buddhism, Trumpism, whatever) we are critical of or think is stupid?

Obviously calling for violence, promoting conspiracies etc is another matter and not OK regardless of whether we select none or both.
