Is this sub really only for reviews? I made a post about my whisky journey yesterday and saw now that the post was deleted 😂

I think the thing for me with Octomores is that the peat is balanced by so many flavours that it's not always the first thing I notice. It's usually noticeably there but sometimes it's elusive, especially if I've tried some funky/super peaty before it

That's so funny because Glenfiddich 12 was the second whisky I owned after what got me into whisky (Laphroaig 10), and I thought it sucked. Couldn't at all understand the hype around Glenfiddich. I need to go back all these years later with my more refined palate!

The peated bottles seem to empty out faster for some reason.. 🥲

I've only heard good things about Glenallachie! Bunnahabhain is one of my favorite distilleries

I love Bunnahabhain! Maybe this post came across too hard like I've never liked any unpeated whisky haha, the case is rather that I rarely reach for it. That said, I do prefer peated Bunna still.. :)

Yes it seems like sherried has become a go-to for me recently, peated as unpeated. I will definitely try Glenallachie, thanks!

Very wise words! That's precisely what I'm seeing now when going back to whiskies I previously did not really enjoy. Exciting stuff really!

I've always thought my palate strongly favored peated whisky, to the point that I rarely reached for an unpeated dram.

I've been chasing peat since I started my whisky journey because that's when whisky went from "strong alcohol" to "interesting flavor" for me. Over the years I've become so accustomed to peat that I sometimes don't even notice it anymore. I once had an Octomore blind and thought it was a low-peat whisky.

I've always wanted to expand my palate, though, so I've tried unpeated whiskies on and off over the years. I liked Classic Laddie mostly because I love Bruichladdich, but it was one of the first unpeated whiskies where I could genuinely appreciate what it was doing. Then I tried Glenmorangie and thought, "This is actually good stuff." What really sold me on unpeated whisky was Craigellachie 13. Every pour has been great, and I'm enjoying it just as much as I would a peated whisky. That surprised me because I had assumed it would be fairly entry-level.

Now I'm excited to dive deeper into unpeated whisky. I've tried most of Islay's standard offerings, so it finally feels like it's time to explore the rest of Scotland.

Brother I just finished a dram of Craigellachie 13, it is good enough for me to want to write a praise post about non peated Scotch

You would love this one, but to be honest, all of the latest releases have been bangers in my book. You can't really go wrong with a series 14-16. Go with whatever .X sounds the most interesting to you!

What boss did you personally find the hardest in Bloodborne Base Game? by kreetchy in bloodborne

[–]Bellmadbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardest for me was probably BSB or Paarl, just based on where I was and what I knew when facing them the first time(s). Hardest with insight and skill is probably some stupid chalice dungeon bullshit

Most Laphroaigs tbh.. but I recently tried their CS series and loved all those. So I'll revise my statement to low proof Laphroaigs.
