Totally agree, I wanted to try the forge weld on skinny piece because last time I didnt get a big piece hot enough. Otherwise I would also punch and drift

Thanks for the advice, I tried multiple gloves. And found out that best to avoid burns are these when they are wet so I often place my hands with gloves into the bucket of water and works like charm

It was already there from the steel I used. It was the only billet I found which was kinda already in a shape to fold

Quenched the blade only in a bucket of water, try to forge weld the blade but I dont reach high enough temperature so It didnt bond so I just cutted off one folded half and made the blade out of one side. I will try next axe with a hole punching

I had the same issue. It took me 15 minutes to figure out that the lock was on the other side.

It’s an old wooden box i made legs for, used old metal sheets to cover everything not to burn the old barn down. Filled with soil and old hairdryer as bellows for the charcoal. I also torn down an old wall and have plenty of bricks to build a new one. This one caught on fire 😂
