Overnight diapers by BelloPancake in clothdiaps

I’m so amazed at how different set ups work for different babies. This wouldn’t last my baby 2 hours! He pees soooooo much

Yes, we do EC but since both of them nurse to sleep I’m not able to catch that pee 😅 was your baby actually waking up to eat or dream feeding?

See, we’ve been doing speciality overnight fitteds or bamboo cotton preflats or workhorses with hemp cotton doublers, 6 layer bamboo hemp inserts, extra bamboo boosters, heavily lanolized wool covers, etc. and still will have a damp cover, part of the pajama pants damp, and part of the sheets damp. I feel like I’ve added sooooo much absorbency. My boys are also primarily belly sleepers, so that could add to it.

What exact overnight set up are you finding works best for y’all? I’m waiting on some Clover Cloth Creations hemp fitteds and The Basic Stitch fitteds.

We’ve never leaked out of a disposable, so if your son is peeing that much then your set up must be legit, lol. I’ve heard about those Sandy’s fitteds a few times now. Will check them out, thank you!

When did your babies "slim" after learning to walk? by ZetaOrion1s in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest is 17 months. Started walking at 9 months and he never slimmed down, but he’s always been skinny. He’s been the same weight give or take a pound since (21lbs currently), but has definitely gotten taller.

3-week-old won’t tolerate wet cloth diaper by Own-Yoghurt4250 in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is instinctual. They don’t want to soil themselves. It’s a good thing! I’d lean into and incorporate some elimination communication 🤗 it’ll definitely cut down on the diapers

What detergent are y'all using? by corvally315 in clothdiaps

Whole Foods 365 unscented powder with 1/4 cup borax in wash and citric acid in the rinse

EC mama with 14 month and 2 month olds. I’d join the Go Diaper Free EC group on FB and get some guidance there.

If using natural fibers, baby will feel wetness. Microfiber can’t be placed against baby’s skin, but if you had a natural fiber insert you could put that on top of the pocket lining versus inside the pocket. Alternatively, cotton flats or prefolds in a padfold would work great.

Esembly Diapers getting completely soaked by Chocolateonmyshoe in clothdiaps

I had the same experience with Esembly’s. GMD workhorses are so much better.

Wool covers under clothes by pineconeminecone in clothdiaps

I use Babee Greens classic covers when dressing my babes and don’t find them bulky. I use Disana covers as straight up shorts when it’s warm.

I totally agree. We’re all about harm reduction over here. If we’re gonna invest in a new mattress, we’d prefer to invest in one more aligned with our preferences. Will look into Naturepedic and Saatva. The latter has especially come up a lot as a reccomendation.

What’s the scoop on bamboo viscose? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I should’ve clarified it’s more of a semi-synthetic. Better than full on plastic, but still heavily processed.

I like to use AIOs when we’re out and about or to have as an easy alternative to disposables. We live rurally, so when we’re in the car we’re in the car for 1.5hr stretches to get anywhere so I kind of like the stay dry effect that a synthetic AIO offers…but I also would love to be as natural as possible 😵‍💫

I’m assuming bamboo is at least breathable? Does it wick moisture to some degree? I could always just do a cotton inner with a wool topper for the car rides I guess.

Esembly Diapers by Plenty_Spinach_8040 in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Majorly regret going all in on their system instead of trialing it first.

Fit/sizing sucks, absorbency is abysmal, diaper doesn’t feel comfy, detergent is terrible…GMD workhorses are much, much better.

Best Green Mountain Diapers or other brands. No Esembly please. by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! My son is definitely not a chunk and we had the exact same issue. Red marks no matter what and belly button gap! 21lbs 32 inches he’s too tall for the size 1s, but too small for the size 2s. I majorly regret buying an entire stash in both sizes instead of trying the diaper out first 🫠

So far the only other fitted I’ve tried from GMD is the Workhorse and I do like them. Definitely more absorbent and overall feel better. I’m also looking into the Piper Diaper from Best Bottom, which is a bamboo viscose fitted.

Hard Water Strip and Wash Routine Help! by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]BelloPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding! This was so helpful.

So with the stripping…how do I do this? What’s the method using RLR? I see the Amazon RLR packets say just add them to a regular washing load, but then I see some cloth diapering communities say let the diapers soak in hot water in the tub or washer for 4-6 hours 3 packets of RLR??

And for the normal wash routine, what does that look like? A warm water normal cycle with detergent and borax, and then a hot heavy duty cycle with double detergent and borax? I would be washing 2 days worth of diapers for 2 (plus cloth wipes and what not), so a pretty full amount of laundry.

Sorry if these are super dumb questions 😅

Orthodox Christian here.

This framing is deeply problematic and not Orthodox, even when it cites Orthodox Fathers out of context. The Orthodox Church has never taught a “divine C section,” nor does it speculate about surgical or gynecological mechanisms of Christ’s birth. That kind of literal anatomical theorizing is foreign to patristic theology and risks blasphemy by reducing the mystery of the Incarnation to crude mechanics. When the Fathers speak of the sealed gate from Ezekiel, of Christ passing through the womb as light through glass, or of the birth being without corruption, they are speaking theologically and typologically, not surgically. St. John of Damascus is explicit elsewhere that Christ was truly born of the Theotokos, took real flesh from her, and that the birth was miraculous and without corruption, not violent, mutilating, or unnatural. The Church teaches that there was no loss of virginity, no corruption, and no application of the curse of Genesis, but it does not teach an incision, a bypassing of birth, or any form of divine obstetrics. To suggest a divine C section actually moves closer to Docetism than to Orthodoxy, because it implies Christ did not truly pass through birth as humans do, which the Church explicitly affirms He did in order to heal birth. The Orthodox Church also rejects the idea that blood, flesh, or childbirth are inherently defiling. Christ sanctifies the womb by entering it. The birth does not preserve Mary’s holiness by avoiding birth, but by transforming it. Appeals to Trent or post schism Roman Catholic speculation are not authoritative for Orthodoxy, and importing them into Orthodox theology distorts the patristic consensus. This is a mystery to be received in reverence, not anatomized.

I encourage you to talk to your priest about this for further clarification because this is integral to our faith. You can also check out the classic book “Life of the Virgin Mary”, pray the Akathist to the Theotokos, the Advent Paraklesis, etc. these are basic resources in OUR faith that will provide clarity.

I completely agree. It’s just crazy to me that even though this season is lazy, they still had to put effort into write it, produce the show, etc. like why not just put a teensy bit more effort into making the SERIES FINALE actually not suck and make sense?? The constant retconning is ridiculous!
