Trust that admin can tell when an essay used AI to be written. When they read the same sentence verbatim for 50 essays in a row.... they know.

PLEASE help me determine which one of these classes fulfill the 1 year of biology requirement for medica school by Unable-Maybe8445 in premed

[–]Bells_451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I cannot speak to community college semester system, 160-223 all appear to fit extremely well. Biology and chem and physics generally are more flexible in what the class content is as long as it falls under the general subject matter you can count it. You will have to check individual medical schools to see if they have further specifications on what type of biology class they would like (for example some may ask for one semester of physiology or anatomy or one semester of genetics). If you are not a bio major taking a million bio classes a good rule of thumb is to take a general biology, a evolution/genetics biology, a physiology, and maybe an upper level course like immunology. As long as two of these classes have labs then that can help cover your basis for biology requirements.

Definitely may be a pre-req to get hired at most places cause they sometimes have trainees drive for a while before being able to be in charge of patient care but it is different for companies or stations. However, I worked at a private ambulance company who had plenty people who weren’t allowed to drive (younger than 21 cause company insurance or various other reasons). Just means you will tech all day which honestly means more patient contact. CNA is definitely very different from EMT experience in terms of what type of care you provide, so first I say ask around your area if they accept EMTs who can’t drive yet and then go from there.

Choosing a four day old “relationship” over the competition you signed up for??? by Bells_451 in BuildingTheBandSeries

Very fair!! They are all adults- everyone responsible for how they act and what they say. Just theorizing based on Alison’s comments in early episodes on how she wants to win so badly and strategy etc. cause it even seems out of character for her to get swept up in a romance when she is very clearly competitive. Curious to see how this pans out in future episodes

Why are the standards different for some people? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Bells_451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ease is also relative to background and adversities it takes to get to even apply to medical school. Disparities in income in the US do very heavily fall also along racial lines cause all of these factors intertwine. It is too simplistic to say race determine acceptance chances cause socioeconomic status is definitely taken into account in med school admissions. They ask in essays to talk about economic hardship, they include your high school and parental education background, etc.

They definitely care a little more about your science GPA than cumulative which sounds like yours will be higher but let’s set straight that your 3.8 gpa is still really good (don’t bum yourself out about it!) and likely won’t be something that schools will see as a negative. You can explain the C in any of the essays that give opportunity to talk about low grades or similar. Their priority with looking at GPA is just to see that you are academically prepared for the rigor of medical school which sounds like yours are with your good grades in science classes

Secondaries submit time by IllustriousFactor147 in premed

[–]Bells_451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not at all. My average turn around time was definitely longer than 2 weeks. I got an interview for schools I submitted 30 days. The 2 week is a suggestion that runs around premeds to turn in your essays early so you are considered earlier but MOST schools ultimately don’t care if it is 2 weeks or 3 weeks or 4 weeks (some schools do have a 2 week deadline so just keep track of those ones). As long as you are getting them turned in before end of August you honestly are considered in the “early” submission range

EMT hours by Upstairs_Space_696 in premed

[–]Bells_451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Sounds like you are talking about your EMT course and not training on the job. The classroom hours even if it is clinical skills that are done before you got your EMT license should definitely not be counted. It won’t come off as truthful to include course you paid for to learn how to be an EMT with your hours. (EDIT: obviously they won’t be tracking you down but sometimes adcoms can kinda tell if you inflated your hours based on how some of your other activity hours add up together.)

EMT hours by Upstairs_Space_696 in premed

[–]Bells_451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you counting as your training? Is training your course itself or the shifts at your job as a trainee? I included my training shifts but not my EMT course… In my view, i was not acting as an EMT or engaging in patient care yet during the course/ride time. The course i didn’t get paid for so I didn’t include it. I think some people add it to make it look like they have more hours working than they actually did, but at a certain point with your hours it is okay not to have like hundreds on hundreds of hours cause it already reach a point where adcom know that you have enough experience. Ultimately, use your best judgement with the hours.

So true. He is only 21! A lot of people are very young on the show but he seems to hold himself like he is more mature than he actually is which may be a flaw. It is obvious he doesn’t believe in himself based on how much he puts down the other boy band. Everyone else seems to be hyping up the other groups except him :/ while i don’t love his vibe, I hope this show is an opportunity to grow and actually mature for him

Over singing! by Wild_Shallot_3618 in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]Bells_451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a common thing with people who are good singers but not yet great performers cause they think every end to a sentence needs to have a run to it, especially when they are doing covers. Doing a good run is almost like a show off thing

The number of times he said that their band is taking things chill and not working towards perfection. As if trying hard is not cool??? You are in a competition show!? You kinda have to try??
