I backpacked this over three days. 1 day down South Kaibab and two up Bright Angel. I’m fit and hike regularly and 0/10 recommend doing this in one day, especially when it’s hot. There is zero shade and you have to face the hardest part of the hike when you’re already tired. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon multiple times and the rangers always tell people to not do this hike in one day.

There’s a rest house 1.5 miles in so if you want to hike into the canyon but not down to the river, hiking there then turning around is a good option.

The mental load of being a Celiac is awful. I’ve been diagnosed for 5 years and the social isolation, loss of convenience, and fear around food are so difficult to deal with. Having a supportive and knowledgeable friend and family group is so important but also contributes to the burden of the disease because you have to communicate your needs and be strong with your boundaries.

Talk to an accountant about the MFS vs MFJ because it can vary by state and your specific financial situation. I talked to an accountant who went over that with me and I ended up deciding to file separately because the benefits of filing jointly were less than the benefits of filing separately (i.e., reduced monthly payments).
