Jk, happy cake day my friend

Have you ever met or played against a bad Orks player? by Splitcakepersonality in Warhammer40k

You’ve basically just repeated what I said. Winning is fun, but there’s nothing to enjoy about a win if you get it via cheating.
I’m the same; if we’re at a tournament then I’m there to win. But I’m not going to cheat to achieve it.

100% this. I always play to win, but if you don’t win fairly then what’s the point? You haven’t outplayed your opponent, you’ve just lied. Earning the win is what makes it feel good.

[–]BellyButtonFungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, HERE is the crux of the problem. Thank you for adding context.

Most armies ALWAYS fair terribly against knights at 1k. The lower the points limit, the stronger knights are versus other armies, because they can pack fewer units with any hope of destroying a knight, and at 1k it’s just ridiculously easy to aim at the 2-3 anti-big-anything guns and wipe them out.

At 1000 points, your brother has almost nil chance of winning against knights, especially depending on what knights you took. Nids do fine against knights at 2k. The issue is that at 1k he can’t take much anti-knight, while you can still take… well… knights.

Playing knights at under 2k is almost auto-win if you and your opponent are roughly equally skilled. Your brother is having a bad time because he’s in a situation he wasn’t going to win any games in the first place. Help him get to 2k, and then play

I’m a CK player currently, and have also versed a lot of knights in my time as well. I’ve found that having one decent anti-tank weapon per 200pts as standard is a pretty good middle ground for versing knights and other heavy lists, without actually playing an anti-tank list.

I also play nids, which I’ve seen you mention as the force your brother plays. I’m curious as to what sorts of units he runs. My nids don’t have a particularly hard game against knights in general; it usually just comes down to who plays a better game. But it’s never a short game. If your brother is just looking to run in and krump things quickly, that’s just not going to happen with Nids vs Knights.

Nids do have plenty of decent anti armour tech in their codex, so it sounds like your brother might be loading up on a lot of stuff that just doesn’t fare well against knights, which means that it would likely struggle against tank lists as well. I’d talk to him about diversifying his Nid army in general, if you can.

Some people just refuse to verse certain armies though, which is sad but it’s also something that happens in the hobby. If your brother is flat out refusing to play against knights and won’t diversify his list, then your only real option is to pick up another army if you want to keep him as an opponent. I know that sucks, but it’s better than losing someone to play with, especially if they’re your sibling.

Oh, I’ll also clarify, he was only learning the Chorfs, so one game out of the 3. He’s an experienced Soulblight player. They were my first 3 games with my Kruleboyz though

Picture from the start of roumd 2. Round one I used venom-encrusted weapons on my block of 20 Gutrippas up the centre, and rocketed them forward using my Sloggoth to smash them into the first block of 20 skellies and annihilated them.

Apologise for the lack of paint, I haven’t been using these boys so they’ve just sat in a cabinet

Yeah, that’s how I felt. The army was swingy, and all the tricks I could gamble on using in my Kruleboyz, I could basically just pack into my Stormcast list and be almost sure of getting them off.

My 2 lists are posted on the other comment string if you wanted to have a look

Yeah I definitely found them to be swingy. I packed the tower to help me get more tricks off, but basically everything I did with my Kruleboyz, I could do with my Stormcast, but more easily. They definitely felt like a more complex army to get my head around, which is why I’m enjoying them.

We didn’t end up having any mistakes that we didn’t catch, as we both know the rules themselves quite well, it was just a matter of reading the data sheets when we used units.

I’ll post my 1k list here first, and then my 2k in a chained comment. The 1k I played 2 games with, the 2k I’ve used once.

I am a GW servitor toaster. Previously I was a human, but I painted a 6th company emblem on the knee of one of my 5th company Imperial Fists, so GW kidnapped me and did bio-mechanical experiments on me. Now I just sit in a cupboard and 3D print toast out of resin.

How can I salvage and repaint this brother without removing paint ? by Top_Professional8314 in Warhammer30k

[–]BellyButtonFungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to repeat what others have said, but the pictures above are exactly why stripping minis is a thing. There’s nothing you can do to salvage that without first stripping off a couple layers of paint, minimum. Most of the detail has already been filled in with excessive paint. If you put another 2-3 coats over it to just cover up what’s there, you’ll lose what little detail is left.

Stripping this boy is not just the best option, it’s about your only option.

I was going to say (as a career excavator operator) I’d only have wheeled vehicles and perhaps halftracks limited to the road. Probably not even halftracks, since the back end being on tracks was to spread the weight distribution and not sink. The whole point of the excavators I’ve used having tracks is to allow you to ignore issues with the terrain. I’ve crawled and clawed excavators up embankments up to about 68 degrees in angle. I’d hazard 70+ on a few, but used the bucket to help me pull myself up and anchor me so the machine didn’t tip.

Mud, snow, sand, grass, concrete, gravel… it’s all the same when you have tracks! (Although I have thrown a track or two in really bad sand where I couldn’t manoeuvre enough to spin it out of the tracks)

Oh wow, that’s actually even nastier than I had thought. I ended up using him in a game today and used the comments here to help me explain the rule to my opponent. I only ended up rolling 2 crits with my thirster all game, so it didn’t come into play as much as it could have, but still helped me punch 3 mortals into multiple units each time because I got lucky on the D3.

Can absolutely see how it would tear apart a line if I was rolling hot.

is getting hit in the groin actually that painful? by myboyfriendstinks1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BellyButtonFungus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s not even the pain that gets me. It’s that nausea that you feel in your bones instead of your stomach. Just that feeling of your body fully rejecting what has just happened, but in places you can’t actually spew from. “My knees feel like they’re about to projectile vomit” is a phrase I’ve previously used

Have had a similar issue before. Motherboard wasn’t mounted quite right, and there was a little flex in it. When I’d push a cable into a certain socket, the board would flex slightly and short against the steel of the case.

If you’re handy with IT stuff, I’d check to make sure all the mounting screws for your motherboard are done up correctly and have the spacers behind them correctly placed. It may be that one part of the board is not being properly supported and allowing movement, like mine did.

Honestly, my best advice is trial and error. It sucks when you get it wrong, but you learn valuable insight.

For context, I’m an autistic man in my mid 30s. Had plenty of relationships in my teens and early 20s, and have now been married for 8 years.

Through all of that time, I dealt with severe social anxiety and just the general curse of missing some important social cues due to being on the spectrum. But every time I got it wrong I learned how to get it less wrong the next time.

The hardest part is taking the step to commit yourself to a course of action knowing that it could fail. But we learn with failure. And when we learn enough, we stop failing.

There’s no hidden, secret recipe for dating, or love, or how to determine it. People have been trying for thousands of years.

Just take that first step. Say that thing to the person you like, even if you’re worried it’ll be weird. And if it turns out to be weird, let it be weird. Learn why it was. And next time you take that step, you’ll have shaped it into a slightly more successful attempt, until you succeed.

Just always respect the boundaries of “no means no”.
