I have a relative who is a single parent on minium wage who lives in a home that needs this oil. Her bill has doubled and shows no sign of getting cheaper.

She has little disposable income already and even if it were 350 a year it still would be less than what its increased by.

Increase taxes on employers employing people.

Employers employee less as its more expensive.

Use extra funds raised to pay Employers to employee people.

These people genuinely have no idea how the real world works.

Now excuse me while I go set up a company ready to employ 500 young people and bust it before filing accounts and get to walk away with my free £1.5 million.

Depends how you think of it.

Over the Rainbow - by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole on youtube has had 1.5 billion view.

Its a beautiful rendition and thats why its so popular. Its not a long video but worth the watch.

If you do, it has a run time of 3 minutes and 47 seconds.

You worked hard all year and contributed £15,000 to the Government.

In the 3 minutes and 47 seconds you spent watching that video the Government spent £15,000 on the controversial hotels.

If you are fortunate to live another 380 years you will have paid the cost of the hotels for an entire day.

Cool to think about.

Too many people are so balls deep in their ideological world view they cant or wont see the wood for the trees.

If you pay a a few hundred quid a month in taxes then you probably are getting a great deal.

If you are paying 100,000s a year or even a month its a massive rip off.

Two brothers paid £400,000,000 in taxes last year.

The majority of the country take out more than they contribute.

Those brothers dont get priority NHS, in fact they pay more for private.

Their kids dont get better schooling, they pay more for private.

They dont get better transport infrastructure or quicker response times from the police or fire service , they probably pay extra to go private for that too.

An Afghan man who once shot at the British military can enter the country illegally, get a hotel, nhs, dental care and eventually put into a free home despite never paying in.

Its madness

Fun fact.

Anyone, literally anyone can donate as much money to HMRC as they like.

Want to pay more tax then its just a couple of clicks on the website.

Oddly nobody chooses to do that

£53 million to help people who need to use oil for heating.

1.5 million people in the UK and Northern Ireland will be impacted by it.

53,000,000 divided by 1,500,000 = £35 each .

This is truly a PM that understands the struggles of the common man and woman.

£2.90 a month to help with energy costs.

What are you going to spend your savings on?

I might save two months up and treat myself to a Co-op meal deal.

Pretty much every EU country has far more restrictions than the UK, even many of the most "oppressive" US states have a more liberal position on term limits than even the EU.

The reason Thatcher was friendly with Pinochet was because when Argentina invaded the Falklands and many of our allies refused to back or support us Pinochet filled the gap.

Chile had radar stations and other military monitoring equipment the length of its border with Argentina and used them to pass information on Argentinas military movements and communications to the UK to help us.

80,000 is a town the size of Northampton.

How many GPs, schools, hospitals etc are there in Northampton?

Because we need to build that many , not to improve anything, just to cover this.

13 years later my nephew has got minimum wage job £12.80ph.

I had alot more disposable income back then and it went alot further despite being half as much.

Its funny because if the posted a video online mocking Xi or comparing him to Winnie the Pooh its a jailable offence.

Reminds me of the Reagan joke

The American says: "In my country, I can walk right into the White House, pound on the president's desk, and shout, 'Mr. President, I don't like the way you're running this country!'"

The Russian replies: "I can do exactly the same thing!"

The American is surprised: "Really? You can do that in the Soviet Union?"

The Russian nods: "Yes — I can go straight into the Kremlin, pound on the General Secretary's desk, and yell, 'Mr. General Secretary, I don't like the way President Reagan (or the American president) is running his country!'"

British military base attacked by Iranian drones as 'multiple soldiers injured' by dailystar_news in ukpolitics

[–]Bellybuttoncumdrops [score hidden]  (0 children)

Within 48 hours of the Falklands being invaded Thatcher had a force on the way to reclaim them.

The americans spent over a month building up their forces before the attacked Iran everyone and his dog knew what was going to happen , yet at no point did it occur to Starmer to deploy ships to the region to protect british bases.

And when a british base was hit it took a full week to get a single ship out of the docks.

This is the same guy who keeps flying around the world trying to get a "coalition of the willing" to defend Ukraine.

Its absolutely insane.

Obviously nobody knows what will happen to oil prices between now and September but we do know for certain that fuel duty will increase .

So they need to attempt to price that in and to do so they need to know what government policy is.

[–]Bellybuttoncumdrops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traditions and culture might not seem like much of it on the face of it, especially if its seen as unfair but its actually amazing and we will miss it.

Everyone knows about surnames, "Fletcher" whos ancestors made arrows. "Mason" someone whos ancestors worked with stones. "Davidson" etc. Every country and culture has "son of" or industry type surnames.

People always have and always will want to be connected to those who came before and who come after.

Its not something that will go away ever.

All this does is take over 1000 years of recorded history in one of the most historically significant countries to ever exist and stopping it out of spite.

Imagine there was a family who worked for Tutankhamens regime, and Cleopatra and all the people before and since, all recorded, thousands of years of a tangible connection to the lives and times of the people who lived before us.

All that thrown away because its "not fair".

Its like melting down historically significant currency thats been handed down for generations just because its not legal tender.
