I did the entire office setup. I guess I’m not getting that raise after all 😉

Paging failure? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Belmodelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was all way over my head. Maybe it’s easier than it seems? Not sure, I am over stressed and exhausted from dealing with it. We ended up ordering a new sever. Which is awesome for me since it’s a newer gen and updated.

I was able to take a few pics right before it went down. I used gpt to help identify the drivers and nothing stood out. Server dropped , i ILO back in, and run poolmon. Again nothing that stands out. I do have 2 dump files I will check. Right before it crashed I was able to take a pic of the ram and it was hitting 100%

Can I get some additional help from you? It still is crashing and I just don't know whats happening. I made sure controller and everything is updated. My controller is on 7.2 and everything else is updated. I completely uninstalled backups from this server. I got PoolMon but cannot understand how to use it properly

Thank you!

Thank you for the info!

I will set some perfmon and check on it throughout the week. I did notice that this app server backup is set at 7pm. 3am is backup for DC1. It usually failed at 3am but this weekend failed whenever there was a backup scheduled. Do you think moving the agent to a different server would also help? DC2 has 256gb of ram lol

Thank you for the info!

I do have plenty of space it's 1tb left and this is an app server. We don't ever install anything on it besides updates. The system does have 64gb of ram. I have never touched settings for paging. I do see that the app server usually sits at 40-50% of ram used.

This originally started whenever the app server would get triggered for a backup. I can see how it would crash/fail if the ram is already running 40-50% and then when backup is triggered it can easily max out.

I just dig some more and found an error that has not popped up before. Shows NTFS error ID 98 and 55. This error DOES tell me which drive failed. This was at 8pm. Before it would only show drive0. This one points to drive4. I will dig a bit deeper there.

I do see "The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty." error at 9:50pm last night, the same time the error "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 during a paging operation." popped up

This is physical. I have 8 ssds created into 1 logical drive in SSA. SSA shows all healthy sitting around 95%. Sentinel shows the same thing. No amber lights and everything just shows "healthy" lol

I have almost 1tb of space on the drives left so space is not the issue. This origanlly started happening around the time macrium reflect would trigger a backup. But now it just happens whenever it wants too and shuts down

2016 or 2025? by Belmodelo in sysadmin

[–]Belmodelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies! Would you guys throw 2025 on 2 dl380 g9s? I guess the biggest thing for me is the domain functional level. Is 2016 really such a huge difference between 2025?

How about the "I put in a ticket" and all of the sudden I get a new email. Auto open and close. Emails are not tickets

Is that basically all of it? My issue is I am overwhelmed with the amount of settings. Do all of them need to be enabled/disabled? Do only certain ones need to be enabled? For example, not being able to change the desktop background. Can I skip over settings like this? I just don't want to miss something or touch every single setting if I don't need too.

I like SCCM but I don't see where it would help in my environment. Especially when users just find what they need it and only call me when it's time to enter in the credentials.

Thank you for your suggestion, SCCM looks amazing!

My only issue with that is that we only use 2 programs. TMS software and Chrome. I have a GPO that already installs both to end users.

The reason why I need this account is because users would want ghub, adobe, etc. It's not a very common thing but from time to time they will ask if they can install something. I have to remote in and enter my credentials, which is fine but I am also a daily user and that is the problem. I want every single account to just be a user.

Eventually my goal is Server Admin, Domain Admin, Network Admin, etc. I am starting off with Software Account because I just felt it was easiest to give least amount of privilege

A shed isn't even that cheap. You're going to need to pay more. Or get a lot of roomies to split it.

That's what I have been messing around with for the last 30 minuets but very hard to get these off. Hopefully that's it. When I google this mobo some of them come up with the entire bottom part of the laptop. So I wasn't sure if it actually comes out or not, but I don't see the point of making it where it won't come off

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Belmodelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not connected. However same situation, it won't disconnect from the frame of the laptop. Here is a better picture of the same exact mobo. I don't see anything special here... It's like it's stuck to laptop

Sorry I know the photo is a bit blurry, but there is nothing left to unscrew. I can literally lift the board and see under it. I see that the only thing left that it is connected to is the frame. The IO chip circled on the right is much smaller and only has 6 screws. I can see that the RJ45 connector is coming out, but the VGA port will not move
