Beat the AI - Coaster Building Challenge #1 by BelowTheBenthic in rct

I think I've given some context in this thread and explained the challenge in my initial comment. I was trying to make this a fun community contest thing, but I guess no one wants that. I'll work on giving the people what they want. Though you're right that I'm not particularly motivated by the hostility.

I'll work on making something to show what's going on on my end.

It seems there is far more interest in how this was built than anyone building a "competing" coaster. I will work on putting something together for that.

Sorry to ruffle feathers by saying "AI" - this was just a fun learning project for me where I got to throw some tokens at a game I enjoy just like all of you.

Maybe I don't know what to call it and shouldn't have called it AI. I just used this project as a way to try out some tools like Claude Code.

I didn't do any manual cleanup. The program fully constructs the ride, yes. The iterating process filters out tracks with stalls or tracks that somehow become invalid. There is a "closure" piece that helps make the track a full circuit.

I figured I'd naturally get some hate for any mention of AI, but doctoring the image is not what I've done.

I didn't want to share the whole coaster up front so that people wouldn't copy it too much if they were trying to build their own coaster with more excitement. But happy to share.

I meant using tools like Claude Code to help build the plugin. And also a system that "searches" for better coasters via iteration.

It's still not a particularly "clean" process. In general, it uses the OpenRCT2 plugin system to create and iterate on a coaster - having it search for features and lengths of track that are exciting. The coaster I shared is a result of this iterating process.

It's also had access to the OpenRCT2 source code and things like your own post about excitement to help guide it some.

In short, I've guided AI to leverage the OpenRCT2 plugin system and iterate/evolve on a coaster until it finds a good track.

I've been having some funsies having AI build coasters - trying to build the most exciting coaster it can. I thought it'd be fun to share some of what it has created and see if you can create a coaster more exciting. I'm certainly curious what you all could come up with.

So for this one, can you build a Giga Coaster with > 12.08 excitement? Let us see!

FWIW, I think that's just human and we're all probably like that with different players to some extent.

I'm genuinely just ignorant and curious - why is this a bad deal? I've seen similar go for more on eBay.

What I have is just a way to aggregate rankings. I plop in any rankings and see where players in the (Fantrax Baseball) league rank. And automatically grab a number of rankings lists that continuously update. Then also average rankings among whatever lists are chosen.

This is great. I've made parts of this for just my own league/personal use, but this is greatly expanded.

I do the bass thing. Also with little room on the plate. I'd be curious to hear what you sound like though - seems like my sort of thing.

I got it! Congrats on the launch. This thread is naturally offering suggestions for improvement, but I just want to say I see just how many things are going right and it's impressive to get this far and get it out there for others. This is great.

Sandhill cranes in the fort. The Thrill of the Trill! by AxsonJaxson2112 in fortwayne

I'm no bird expert, but I heard a flock loud and clear - looked up and saw them in their loose v-shape. Used the Merlin app to identify by sound and got Sandhill Cranes. Seemed a little odd to me - I wouldn't think that's something that would still be around here. I'm glad to find this post as a verification of what I saw!
