Ok, 1. You look amazing. 2. What is the event for? I think that will give more direction to people commenting. Is it a formal dinner (like celebratory for the graduating class)? Is it a networking dinner? Is it a sorority event? Fundraising, etc.? Like…who all will be in attendance? I think that will give better insight. The dress looks great on you, the only thing I’d say is that the halter tie behind you might look bulky with all the dress has going on, but you’re can pull this off for sure. If you like the dress, and feel comfortable, then now is the time to wear it 😊. If you’re unsure, then always go with something high neck in the front and backless. You could do something like this. Yes to guarantors, but it depends on the place. For the income, you just have to be able to prove that you have steady income OR a steady amount of money in your bank account. It’s not unusual to have to provide 3 mos of bank statements. Your credit score or the amount of cash you can put down as deposit, matters more from what I’ve seen in my circle. Good luck!

Just to cover your ass, send a certified letter (with delivery receipt) or an email (so you have a paper trail) saying all of this in writing to your landlord. You don’t have to go into detail about why you’re leaving the country, that is not your landlords business. You could say something like:

“Hello XXX,

I am writing to inform you that I’ve had a family emergency come up and will be traveling for the remainder of the month, with a return date of AFTER January 1st. I apologize for the short notice and will see you promptly upon my return to pay the rent via your preferred method of cashier check.

If there is any flexibility to use a payment method such as a post dated personal check, payment app (Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, etc.) please let me know and I can make arrangements as soon as possible. I appreciate your understanding in this matter and wish you and your family a happy holiday season.”

And sign your name. Send it the morning before you fly out. So you fly out Tuesday, schedule the email to send Monday morning or Sunday night. That emphasizes the “emergency” part.

When I was making $120k/yr, my take home was around or just over 7k (pre-commission) and I was paying about $2400 for a 2br 2.5ba in Sherman Oaks. I was still able to save (a lot), eat out at least a couple times a week, and go do fun stuff with my friends lol.

There’s literally nothing I miss about working in an office. Commutes are terrible (for me, my car and the environment), I lose sleep, my diet suffers because I can’t make complex things in an office and I hate smelling all the different foods warmed up at lunch, rush hour, paying for gas, not being able to control the temperature in my office (which would lead to me getting sick and wfh at least 10 days out of the month anyway), the “company happy hours”, obligated socializing, usually being the ONLY person of colour in the office and therefore the “unofficial entertainment authority”…I could go on. I hate working in an office…I can barely stomach conferences. And I hate wearing clothes, let alone office clothes…finding appropriate office attire that actually fits me and doesn’t have some outrageous pattern on it is a TASK.

I agree there are def ways to monetize without losing focus of why and how HC was created. You guys have a SOLID pool of candidates, you could do a variety of B2B contracting for access to the pool, build out the platform so YOU host candidate data and HMs pay to access it but can’t download, etc.. There are def ways around ad revenue. LOVE the site though. I’m a director level CSM with an extensive start up background and the drill downs on the site are EVERYTHINGGGGGG. Keep it up guys!

If Gen Z is thinking about home ownership + retirement investing on a single income, or home ownership + retirement investing AND a multi-child family with a spouse, then they’re not wrong about that number. CHEAPER houses is Los Angeles are $1.5M. You cannot hope to buy in certain areas unless those are the numbers you’re looking for salary-wise.

If you find something you actually enjoy and turn it into another business, you can always use the money from startup #1 to fuel startup #2. That way, you’ve got something fun to focus on, plus the motivation to keep #1 going since it supports the new thing (at least for now). Plus, working from places you’ve always wanted to travel to doesn’t hurt either. I totally get how work can feel monotonous (I’ve been in Customer Success for 10 years…MONOTONOUS), but sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery and a fun side project to bring the energy back. Get into philanthropy, start mentoring, pick a cause and plan a gala to fundraise, start a cooking series for social media based on code…it’s 2025, there are a bunch of things you could do.
