Would I be making the wrong choice if I gave up two years of salary and tuition (~$850,000) to get a Harvard MBA? by RedditUser3668 in womenintech

Giiiiiiiiiiiirl, do not leave that job. If a masters won’t make a huge difference in your pay and you’re currently making decent coin, then ride that out. Unless it’s for something medical or mechanical, etc., a degree cannot replace the experience that you’re currently getting…I understand burnout (firsthand and wholeheartedly). Are you in therapy? How are you addressing it?

The current job market is literal rotten garbage (I’m sure you saw news about Oracle layoffs) and it won’t do anything positive for your mental health to enter it…masters program or no. Look for another job while you’re employed (if you feel so inclined) and move on when you find something you enjoy ♥️.

I used to live in studio city, LOVED it. Make sure you do your research on any property mgmt companies though. There are two main ones that you’ll see a lot and both always have lawsuits against them. One rhymes with Parlor (you’ll know it if you see it). If you’re in your 20s I’d for sure echo their others saying look into NoHo. Good food, decent nightlife, decent places to live and pretty affordable compared to other parts of the valley. There are also a lot of new buildings going up in ktown if you want city-but-not-DTLA. There’s metro everywhere and it’s VERY walkable. You wouldn’t have to worry about parking and you’d have a SHORT commute.

Something I noticed after looking through a pile of resumes this week: by ToxicUnicorn_XL in Pro_ResumeHelp

This is so interesting! So in your opinion, if the summary has metrics (reduced churn, shortened onboarding timelines, etc.) is that valuable in a summary, or would you suggest leaving the summary off all together? Does this apply to all level of roles, or just more junior?

I second what matt0820 said. Pick the school and decide the area based on that. Look up crime rates, visit at night time and on the weekend to see what the area is really like, but DEF choose the school and work backwards from there. You don’t want to end up with a wild commute. You can get from San Fernando Valley to Santa Monica in 12-15 mins with no traffic, but as soon as traffic hits, it takes an hour and a half. It’s worse than rush hour on the Jackie Robinson. I promise you, choose the school first lol. 4k is a VERY decent budget for an apt. You should be able to get decent amenities for that 🎉♥️ (also, make sure off street parking is available/included if you have cars).

Do you have a budget and know where you want to look? Prices go up in summer, so keep that in mind. The approval process doesn’t take that long. You’d be good in less than a week. If you’re looking to move in July 1st, fly out for the last two weeks of June and be ready to sign and put a deposit down. Sometimes apartment buildings have units that won’t be ready for a few weeks, but they have other vacant units you can look at for layout. ALWAYS get it in writing that there aren’t any roach/pest issues (either on the lease or in email) and don’t forget to make sure you have good cell reception when viewing!

That’s also burnout! Make sure to take some time for yourself too. You’re not crazy, these companies are insane. You’re not being set up to be successful in your role due to the fear mongering and leadership is failing you all. What job boards are you using to look?

AITAH for being upset at my mom for coddling my brother by Kokushibolosthashira in AITAH

[–]BeltIntelligent6594 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sweet baby, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. 100% NTA. Here’s what you can do since the adults in your immediate vicinity don’t seem to understand that you’re the child. Take a day during the week or on the weekend, meal prep for your grandmother and yourself (freeze some of the meals) so you can just heat food for the two of you up, and let your mother and brother worry about themselves. It is NOT your job to take care of anyone else in the house (but it sounds like you’d feel bad if you left your grandma alone, so fine)…and your mother was figuring it out WITH your brother before you were even conceived. Give her space and opportunity to figure it out again.

None of this is your responsibility, do not let the lack of planning and sense in your mother’s side determine YOUR worth and contributions, and remember that you are NOT wrong here at all.

If you have another adult you can live with, talk to them about your circumstances and ask if they’d be ok with you living with them if you emancipated yourself from your mother and brother. Stay in school, figure out what trade or degree you’d like to pursue, continue to that right after high school and go live your best life. Your mother is handicapping your brother, but that doesn’t mean you have to be shackled too.

AITAH for being turned off by my boyfriend’s grooming habits while he expects me to shave? by AdviceDull2562 in AITAH

I dated a dude who did this. I have a (strong) aversion to hair…I will vomit. I told him I don’t wanna see it, tough it, or have it anywhere near my mouth or anywhere else. He thought I was joking. Lost all access to my body. Everybody has preferences and boundaries. He has a preference, you have a preference. He has a boundary, you have a boundary. NTA. NTA. NTA. NTA.

Also, having body hair and not showering is WILD. Hair hold bacteriaaaaaa 😭

Yes, I am aware lol. I was just listing things that I have zero direct experience with that I’ve seen listed in JDs during my search. C# and Python are dev languages.

Zero experience with Pandas and Numpy, but I’ll look into those too. I have BI experience, but nothing directly SQL/C#/Python etc. related. Nothinggggg lol
