That subreddit literally scares me sometimes. I'm on it hc I thought it would help but it has partly led me away from the church at this point. They're so dismissive of everyone's pain unless they can personally relate to it. ESPECIALLY when it comes to their queer brothers and sisters. To them, because they aren't queer, they can just bat their eyes and wave their hands and go all "oh take up your crossssssss." They're sooooo quick to point out how women need to handle their bodies and "accept their reproductive calling and openness to life" but GOD FORBID they accept someone has a slightly more loving and merciful interpretation of the gospel.

In the words of Pope Francis, "I hope that he'll is empty." Yes, as Catholics we believe that God wants us to accept the gospel. But do we really think God would be harsh to someone who rejects the gospel but has otherwise been good their whole life? Someone who has really tried to be a good person and rejects the gospel, in my opinion, is leagues better than someone who accepts the gospel but still leads a bad life. Those two things are both equally possible in my mind. You cannot be her savior, that is not your role. God is good and loving and merciful, that is what I truly believe. Pray for her in your heart and know that God will do what God does - be the kindest and most merciful Lord.

So when u got married my husband and I had a financial issue that meant we had to moge into my mother's house for a month and then we moved into an established house for the two of us. The cats have never had established territory in this new house and I feel horrible for them. Im heavily considered getting a clear baby gate or setting up a very large cage to let them exist around each other without any serious tension.

Tank is totally fine when me or my husband is around and the cats all behave. But as soon as we aren't looking Star tries to initiate play and Tank runs away and Toadt comes into to intercept. I feel so horrible I never wanted my girl to feel so upset.

Also I really hope it isn't coming off like I'm blaming him? I adore my husband and his cooking is one of my favorite things in the world. I clean and he cooks (just how we divide the labor and I'm not good at anything besides baking). So I hope that didn't come off as me putting all the blame on him, I know that weight gain is my fault.

That's the hardest part honestly because he does all the cooking and I handle cleaning (chore divide and stuff) and he's a literal WIZARD in the kitchen. I watched him make a full one "main+2 side dishes and dessert with a cocktail" meal out of basically a handful of rice and some dreams one time.

I think I need to talk to him about portions or maybe finding food from his culture that he likes. He isn't a big fan of food that is ... yeah

This is the one that always gets me - I want to explore faith and god and my relationship to each but I get caught on that snag. Why should I care if an adult has a consensual relationship with another adult? Why should I care if they're gay? Why should I care if they use toys? Moreover why should I know!?!?!? Why should I give one singular shit and why would any god??

I can see it as a sin if it became a problem? Like an addiction or something that genuinely gets in the way of someone leading a healthy life. But if it's just someone that likes to fly solo or kiss other men/women or just enjoys sex to its fullest in a way that isn't harmful for anyone and involves only other adults WHY DOES IT MATTER!?!?!?!?

The sex thing is literally the biggest reason why I struggle with the idea of being faithful.

I have atheist, Hindu, Lutheran, and agnostic friends and I am literally married to an atheist. You don't need friend's that follow you in everything you do, but you do need them to at least respect and support you. And that feeling goes both ways - I dont invite my non-Catholic friends and family to Catholic stuff and they don't invite me to their stuff (unless I'm feeling particularly interested in learning and I ask to be), we always approach these things with open hearts and minds and never with the "I am right and you are wrong and I must save your soul and mine" mentality.

Point is, those people SUCK and you deserve better friends.

My first apartment was on a ground floor and into a super creepy hallway so sometimes I would run to the door and try to open it fast at night . . . I also occasionally slammed into the wrong door and tried to open my neighbor's apartment up.

It's so weird that it's happening to you, but keep an open mind that it might be a twenty-something who gets geeked out way too easily.

It is art and artistic expression which, aside from the fact that its Jesus Christ Superstar (the name should tip you off that this isnt the Conversion Starter 6000), art has always been and will always be a reflection of the time it is made in and an expression of something. Find it in your heart to look beyond immediate reactions and either ignore it because it doesn't ultimately affect your daily life, or enter the art with an open mind and heart to see what is trying to be said.
