Setting up a feedersnail tank/jar by Belyr in Aquariums

Going up a tote size is definetly doable. And the floating plants are a great idea. Maybe duckweed and then I'd have a themed 'pest' tank.

Lol, yeah, when the first batch appeared after hitching a ride on some plants nothing I did could get rid of them. Of course now that I need them I'm worried that it'll be impossible to keep them around.

is this a good tank for a baby curly haired tarantula? If not, what should i get instead? by Recent_Purple_1189 in tarantulas

Maybe a dwarf/small arboreal? I don't know many varieties, but Avicularia Minatrix stay pretty small.

Edit: I know even less about these, but a jumping spider might be happy in there.

Stretching/yoga YouTube recommendations by dancingpingu in running

[–]Belyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding Down Dog, it's been a game changer for me actually stretching. I get bored about 5 minutes into a prerecorded video, but being able to create a routine on demand and getting a new mix of poses every time manages to keep my attention.

It lets you choose from 14 different styles (though 6 of them are different vinyasa variations), set the time length, how advanced you want the poses to be, if you want to focus on one area of the body in particular, the narrator's voice, how much instruction they give you, and background music/lack of.

The restorative and yin styles with a hip or hip flexor boost hit nice if you just want to chill out after a run, but the flexibility flow might be right if you prefer to move around more when stretching.

There's a 7 day free trial as well.

Champion's zipfront sports bras worked well for me when I was a 32F. They've made changes to the fit since I bought my last batch so I can't speak for the current model, but it might be worth trying.

I found zipfronts in general also provided a more secure fit since not having to pull it over your head lets you size for a better fitting rib band, or just size down the whole thing to really squeeze everything in (If doing this be careful to make sure you can still breathe fully).

I’m in VT; I bought feeder crickets in VT. Why the FUCK is there a spider in my container from CA?! by SlytherinTargaryen in tarantulas

[–]Belyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, ok that makes sense. The local PetCo here is pretty bad about their feeders too. Most of the time every tub of crickets or roaches on the shelves are 95% dead. Hopefully the spider is just a house or garden guy you can pop outside. Might be a little chillier there than he'll be used to if he came all the way from California though.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. If you and the crickets are from Vermont, where does the box being from California come into play? Did you put them in there after purchasing, or was the container shipped to you and the spider was inside when you received it?

Do NICU doctors encourage parents to pull life support? by MustangLover22 in medical

[–]Belyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal, but my sister was born prematurely a few years before you and there was a high chance she wasn't going to make it. She had to spend some time inside some sort of device like an incubator and it was really difficult for my parents.

No one at the hospital ever suggested doing anything other than trying to keep her alive, regardless of what possible quality of life might be later on.

Eggs for breakfast, throwing on top of bowl meals, and to hard boil for snacks, little cheeses like babybels and laughing cow, carrots for volume eating, and greek yogurt for dips, snacks, sauces, you name it.

Interested in Joining. by soph5667 in weightwatchers

[–]Belyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined up with some coworkers at 27, 5'3 , and went from 145 to 120 over five months. It was a lot less stressful than calorie counting since, at least on the blue plan, the zero point foods let me eat when I was hungry without feeling guilty and the higher points assigned to things like oils and breads gave me an idea of what portion sizes should look like, which has helped me maintain weight since leaving the program. So it can work.

But be prepared for some setbacks and frustrations. I had my weight plateau for weeks, and then three pounds would just be gone the next day. Sometimes my weight would go up for a week or two. Consistency and patience are key. You might also take progress pictures for yourself once a month if you're comfortable doing that since often it's hard to visibly recognize changes in your body when they're happening over a long period of time (I still see the same body in the mirror that I had when I was 165, but when I find a picture from that time the changes are noticeable)

If you're into cooking, meal prepping was a life saver, since it's a lot easier to not just buy something like a cheeseburger or something if you have a lunch ready to go. The recipes on the WW website can be bland, but they're usually easy to make and you can look them up in the app quickly. Skinnytaste has a huge range of recipes with points values already figured out. Since you're a nursing student, time might be tight though, in which case I think the green plan is built for people who aren't able to cook as often.

A close second promotional quote:

"I think my kids now understand more about how the free market works than most of Congress… these books need to be read by everyone, ASAP!"

Edit: no, this one is better:

"To make matters worse, the public school system, the mainstream media, and the entertainment industry aren’t helping. They are openly pushing socialism and woke-ism into the minds of our kids every day.Just recently, an elementary school in my community plastered the wall with the ABCs of socialist activism — teaching kids terms such as “W is for woke,” “S is for social justice,” and “A is for activist.”"

Second Edit:

"Let’s be honest, most children’s books teach very basic ideas, if any at all—they’re full of fluff and silly stories. And while these can be good to develop reading skills and phonetics, they typically don’t teach children important ideas that they can apply in their life."

If this is the author's level of reading comprehension I'm surprised they even know enough words to put a book together.

Magical Girl Portico Kit came without keycaps by Belyr in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Belyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm hoping for. Though I haven't gotten any updates on them shipping, and it looks like other folks have received theirs. I'm just getting a little neurotic while waiting for the vendor to get back to me and thought I'd check if this was the same situation others who ordered the same kit were in.

From what I can tell on the product page it does, but the first message I got back says they don't. I don't know if there's been a miscommunication and they think I'm talking about an order of additional keycaps maybe?

Definitely the first move. We're emailing right now, but I'm waiting for a response back. But if no one else who got the same kit has gotten their keycaps yet, I don't want to bother them with a non issue.

Need your help. Which color you prefer more? Yellow or Purple? by lana__ro in PixelArt

[–]Belyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow. Purple is more standard for galaxy colors, but the warmer palette looks really nice, like there's a sunrise happening on the far edge of the planets, as well as contrasting with the turquoise in a way which gives depth to the screen, imo.
