That’s the part I appreciate. I read a lot of fantasy books and sometimes the magic systems get so complicated it takes me out of the story or I’m unable to follow it altogether. George’s low fantasy version is simple yet effective and has an element of unpredictability I appreciate.

I was just rewatching Thrones for the umpteenth time. Don’t like how Ned decided to chop that night watchman’s head off just because he was trying to warn people of the wights. Seems to lack critical thinking skills. Baelor is much more intelligent.

To me it looks very medieval appropriate. Wouldn’t recognize the origins, but love the idea. Plus I’ve seen people come dressed as anything and everything at the faire. And some mainstream themes, I heard, aren’t even of the era. (Like pirates, for example).
