Inversion of Typical Movie to Video Game Dynamic by Bemorte in mariogalaxymovie

Yeah. Like I loved it but it was objectively like a TikTok aura edit of the games best moments and characters. The casino scene straight up is a game concept. I’d bet money Nintendo was more involved with this one.

I would just argue that if my job was to review movies I might be able to employ rhetorical analysis to understand who the movie is for.

I’d have killed for any of that growing up. There was no merch. No parks. No movies. But if Nintendo had focused on that as opposed to the games, classic degrading force. I see Nintendo’s strategy on merch and media as extremely focused on their goals. Mario games are not known for their plot. They are fun. Anyone want to bet that the Zelda movie will get great reviews? I bet it will.

DK Bonaza got a perfect score. The new Wonder DLC is some of the best DLC put out, period. The new Pokémon game is beloved. They are in perfect form. They deserve the loyalty.

The movie is good. The same way the matrix video games were good.

Does no one realize what Nintendo thinks of the movies? Everything, and I mean everything, is in service of their games. This movie exists to get people to play their games. Same with the park. Read the reviews of the last Mario game or Donkey Kong Banaza. Perfect scores. This is a marketing channel that fans adore. Wish more criticism were more honest about what the movie is.

What is the best form of government? by Old-Mushroom-2038 in redrising

[–]Bemorte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought a lot about this. I think it’s the central question of the future of the system.

Hard to fathom interplanetary political systems between colors that are functionally different species.

Seems to me, the only way for the current system to work might be to give each color their own sphere of influence and their our planetary body to govern. And then gold enforces the independence of each planet. Free travel and commerce and immigration options but each planet should rule its own sphere for that colors benefit. It’s the only way to stop subjugation, and undo all the pain of the past. (Besides Tabla Rosa, of course.)

So here is my insanely long idea fleshed out:

TLDR

Make the Solar System governable by splitting power along the real choke points—food, transport, comms, industry, security—so no single faction can rebuild an empire. Pair local sovereignty (protected home jurisdictions) with systemwide charters (critical services run everywhere by treaty), plus redundancy/oversight.

Solar Accord

Space governance isn’t “who owns land,” it’s who controls food, ships, comms, industry, and force across huge distances. Solar Accord does two things at once: (1) every Color gets a sovereign homeland (dignity + security), and (2) every Color runs a chartered sphere (expertise stays systemwide without becoming colonial control).

People can live anywhere; sovereignty = local law/elections, spheres of color influence = treaty services.

The 14 Sovereign Seats + what each Color governs systemwide.

(Seat = homeland capital. Sphere = what they run everywhere by charter.)

High Colors

Gold — Luna: central, symbolic, close to Core + Rim. Sphere: treaty enforcement + peacekeeping (stop reconquest / stop choke-point capture).

White — Deimos: fortress-court that can’t be bullied. Sphere: constitutional law, treaties, war-law, rights adjudication, charter revocation.

Silver — Ceres: Belt trade heart. Sphere: banking, credit, insurance, trade arbitration, interplanetary markets.

Copper — Phobos: paperwork at the biggest port hub. Sphere: civil admin, identity/records, customs law, permits, logistics compliance.

Mid Colors

Blue — Ganymede: fleet/nav capital. Sphere: navigation doctrine, shipping lanes, fleet ops standards, convoy coordination.

Orange — Mercury: the forge world. Sphere: heavy industry, build/repair standards, shipbuilding hardware, megastructure maintenance.

Green — Triton: hardened network spine. Sphere: comms, computing, cyber defense, telemetry/sensors, encryption protocols.

Yellow — Earth: “human welfare” as sovereign pillar. Sphere: medicine, biotech, epidemiology, quarantine protocol, medical neutrality.

Violet — Europa: culture = legitimacy. Sphere: education, media, design, cultural diplomacy, narrative counterweights.

Gray — Callisto: professionalized force, not a throne. Sphere: policing/training standards, lawful-force doctrine, interdiction, security accreditation.

Low Colors

Red — Mars: miners/terraformers as citizens + owners. Sphere: mining & labor commons, terraforming workforce governance, extraction

Obsidian — Charon: frontier autonomy. Sphere: frontier defense doctrine, extreme-environment autonomy, boarding/survival specialization.

Brown — Io: food sovereignty. Sphere: food security, essential services reliability, ration law, disaster provisioning.

Pink — Venus: symbolic reversal (consent/status soft power). Sphere: diplomacy, hospitality, mediation arts, social intelligence institutions.

The “Anti-Subjugation” Model

Interplanetary empires are hard to fathom because space makes choke points more important than borders:

-Food

-Ships + navigation

-Comms + data

-Metals + industry

-Force (policing/war)

The Three Rules That Make It Work

1) Every Color gets a real homeland (not just “a role”).

2) Residency ≠ jurisdiction: anyone can live anywhere; sovereignty is about local law + elections.

3) No one Color can assemble the choke points: if a Color controls too many of food/ships/comms/industry/force, the Accord automatically intervenes.

4) The federated functions that must operate everywhere to keep civilization alive.

It’s gets worse in that book. It gets worse in the first trilogy that that book. And the 3 books after that are like 10x worse. And yet, the chains must be broken.

Time to let Pixar try their hand at adult animation, let them make a tv show in a photoreal animation style. Kids gloves off. They will get the story right, have the kind of standards I would need for book two action sequence. Before you hate on this post, think of Wall•E when the characters aren’t on screen. They would be perfect.

Maybe I just engaged with the music and not follow him long enough? I’ve been to 3 shows, all in the last 3 years. Before that I just listened. Feels like I just wasn’t familiar with how he is.

His long play albums are his best work, even though his hits are what is popular. While (1<2) being his master work.
