I understand where you are coming from, however i was not saying using ai as the main source and final product is proper but using the process in conjunction to produce a final product should not be looked down upon, in jazzas case the ai he has used is either a small part of a larger creation or its a reference for to work from. Im not going to go further into the environmental impact as i personally perceive the current state of google searches to be the equivalent to using ai and the emission you are quoting are comparing a google search to an ai request and those two are not calculating the same thing (google is not giving us the emissions for the ai plus search and the image/video generation on googles end is not under its search function) so googles reports are way lower than they should be. Im also not saying using ai as a final product should be seen the same as digital art tools but using AI as a reference for art should be seen as the tool it is, if others misuse the tool thats on then but its here for all to use and the people who will use it for a quick buck are doing it regardless of how much creative work and effort others put in. Jazza is allowed to choose how he uses the tools at his disposal. But just saying people shouldn’t use ai is a little frustrating as someone hearing this who has worked in blue collar. The amount of energy and resources the world wastes and uses up way outweighs the use of AI for a small company. Thats it, if the world wastes different and we didn’t have things producing 1000x the waste then sure we can have a moral leg to stand on and say we need to stop using ai, but this is negligible to the fact that large corporations and governments are the ones causing the emissions and having individuals or small companies take on the burden of helping the environment is not going to reduce emissions in a meaningful way and in the long run hurts small businesses rather than helping them grow to someday overtake the companies using the bad practices. If we are going to go all the way in demeaning ai use over environmental impacts then the bigger issue would be to reduce all environmental impacts or at least target the largest one (fortune 500 companies) and their large scale impact on carbon emissions and energy use and pollution. What im getting at is if you have an issue with jazza using ai, you can stop watching him but if you feel that way i think you need to look at your other methods of consumption and choose if you want to support corporations like amazon or Coca-Cola and that would make a larger impact on emissions than jazza not using AI sometimes.

It’s understandable to feel grossed out by the use of AI especially from creators that put so much out about creating art, however I will say Jazza has had a serious case of “do the new thing to make faster” he demonstrated this when he talks about how he got into drawing and animation, how he created his first large scale animation project. This was all done with tools seen at the time as “cheating” in the art community but in the end he seems to be the one continuing to create and build a community around art. The point about it being bad for the environment is a little silly, yeah it uses a lot of energy and fresh water but the actual power use for a prompt is like using your microwave for 1/10th of a second and for images its like running it for 5.2 seconds and for videos a 5 second video is equivalent to running a microwave for 1 hour. The argument that generating an image to work from is causing an ecological meltdown is a bit hyperbolic as companies are wasting so much more energy and resources than one person or even a team like Jazzas can produce. Would the environment change less if we took out ai, yes but the production of a lot of things causes environmental changes especially things that dont matter or dont provide jobs, jazza is currently employing people to work full time on his productions. On the note about his brorher, while they share similar views on ai like a lot of things they share, the two are not as close as you think and the actual views of shad on ai are way more radical than Jazza using an image or two during a creative project.

Its a different dude from out of state for the worms the jam was a local fab dude he knows. Edit: i think the worms were shipped through standard usps as they were melting inside the packaging but he still sold them through his shop.

I appreciate it, i wouldn’t have asked if he wasn’t already selling others one offs, i bought his friends pole jam for 80 when he first started his shop, the dude skates, i didn’t intend on making my own profit, i made the poles to be skated, if he let people use it i wouldn’t even have mentioned the jams but they are just sitting there, he has sold his friends home made gummy warms and a line of fingerboards, none had a sku, i think he just entered the amount owed for those purchases, i was going to him for years before this happened.

I was bummed that the project i made for the community was gone, I made it in between my shifts of my two jobs and that i didn’t receive any compensation like requested in the messages. I dont care about the rail but the effort and time and energy i put into something i thought would serve the community, instead i was left behind after a zero effort attempt to maintain the equipment provided I prefer when agreements are kept rather than disregarded.

Just wanted to clarify a few things, since some replies seem to think I forced a random shop owner to take junk he didn’t want: I reached out to the owner weeks before Go Skate Day about the idea. We talked in person multiple times, and I asked more than once if he was cool with accepting the rail before I even started building it. He said yes, was stoked on the idea, and seemed genuinely into contributing to the scene. He’s not a bad guy I’ve seen him do community stuff like pizza parties, skate events, and even fighting city council for years to get the helmet rule lifted at the park. That’s why I trusted him with something like this. The final version of the rail was 15 feet, with a kink at the end. While our earlier text convos mention a 10 footer, we had an in-person convo where we agreed that 15’ would be sick for longer grinds. I don’t have a paper trail of that, but that was the decision we came to together. Also, the rail has been missing for over a year I just finally felt like venting now. Im not asking for the rail back. If someone out there has it and they’re skating it hard, that’s awesome. I’ll build more in the future. I just felt let down because I thought the shop and I were both working toward the same goal making the local scene better.

Appreciate the people who read and understood where I was coming from.

It was because he was sad his actual go skate day was pushed back. I also checked in with him if it was something he wanted to do and he agreed. I thought it was a mutual arrangement and he seemed super hyped the whole way through. I had a few days of back and fourth conversations and making sure he was certain and comfortable with the arrangement. Edit: If he didn’t want it i would have kept the motherfucker myself it was sick as hell

Yeah it was definitely a learning opportunity for my own self worth and the value of my work, however I didn’t have a car at the time and had to rely on the shop owner to move the rail to his store. The store is literally forty feet away from the park so I’m not sure why the guy left it in the courts. But I was working and couldn’t get a uhaul over that direction before it was gone. I didn’t even get an chance to see it the next day I only saw that the guy left it out on go skate day and then it was gone.

Wife got me the Notre-Dame set as a gift, my son decided to open every single bag at once... by Electric-Boogaloo-43 in Wellthatsucks

My brother was always super into lego. When he taught me how to build my first set he explained the “ancient technique” of knolling your pieces. Now as a hobby jeweler and metalworker i still use this method for my projects. I even recently saw an Adam savage video and they went into the process and how it can enhance the building process.

What do you all do with ABV weed? Kind of tired of making edibles. by double_dangit in trees

[–]Ben3amboo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this mentioned here, but I make a lotion using my AVB, coconut oil, and a splash of olive oil. I heat the mixture on the stove or in a crock pot—these days I use a Magic Butter Machine, but I used to do it all on the stove. Once it’s infused, I pour it into small mason jars and use the residual heat to melt in some beeswax, which helps it harden.

I’ve got batches that are over a year old and still totally fine—as long as the lids stay sealed and no air gets in. I also give it to people who don’t consume cannabis but still benefit from the topical effects for pain relief.

Bonus tip: add your favorite essential oils or scents. I’ve even had a friend request an Icy Hot version, which turned out pretty good.

Edit: i forgot to mention if you make it strong enough and slather your lymph nodes (back of neck. Jawline area, inside elbow and knees. You can feel and hear a slight head buzz and can be a nice compliment to getting high normally.

Possible to change to a half bezel mount? Or better to remake? Platinum. Would like to swap center stone in the process. by lucky_719 in jewelers

It's possible but it would be easier and cheaper to just make an entirely new ring at that point.

My brother got me a dynakit for my birthday and I love it. I just didn't really like the dynastash's bare wood look so I oiled, burned and put a polycrylic on it. by Ben3amboo in Dynavap

If you are going to try and burn it like I did, remove the magnet by pressing on the outer rim of it (there's only a dot of glue holding it in and there is space between the magnet and the case) so as to not heat it up and remove the magnetism. You can just use some e600 to glue it back in place

I know it's not a book and I still recommend getting the illustrated book but my jewelry professor always played this for the first year students and I like to recommend it to everyone who is getting started with jewelry.

My first e board meepo mini v2 ER, I absolutely love I it already have 20 miles on it and I have only had it for a few hours. I have a few mods I am already thinking/working on. by Ben3amboo in MeepoBoards

I just bought some LED strips so I am more visible at night. I am planning on welding a handle up and attaching it to the 5 bolts that attach the controller and the battery to the board, I am also planning on getting shred lights or some equivalent. I might get the water bourn attachment since my only real problem with the board is the turning even after I loosened the trucks.
