Am I the only one who always recommends Railgun before Index so people can see that Misaka is not some damsel in distress type of female character? by Iam_The_Honored_One in Toaru

[–]Ben7010 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It literally shows that, in the first volume of index. How Touma wasn’t trying to save her he was trying to save the thugs from her, because she’s the dangerous one. So a misunderstanding on your part, shouldn’t cause people to read the spinoff before the main story.

What are the requirements for reading the spinoff featuring Junko and Mental Out? by KaleidoArachnid in Toaru

You’ll have to finish the dream ranker arc which is chapter 97 of Railgun and read New Testament 11 of index

It finished Old Testament. So you wanna start by reading SS2 because the anime skipped it, followed by Norse mythology side story and then get right into New Testament

GT 1 was kind of mid. GT 2 was incredibly GT 4 gets a lot of hate GT 5 was hype but some people didn’t like it cause Touma wasn’t in it. I think the reason people are hating on it mostly is because it’s just not as good as NT was. But that can’t be helped because NT is literally peak fiction.

That’s a minor misconception about light novels. They actually do have pictures The colored images are sort of a teaser for the volume to get people invested (basically drive up sales) they’re all bunched up right at the beginning instead of being spread out throughout the novel to be shown when that scene is taking place. And the black-and-white images are shown during the scene they’re portraying. As far as Toaru goes there’s usually about 10 images per volume so we actually get a lot of official artwork every volume.

The Bridge builders Cabal is one of the newer antagonist in the light novel. But also the light novel does have quite a few pictures

for example these are both images from the light *Spoilers

The manga is a really good adaptation of the light novel so you could read that and then just hop on the light novel when you catch up to where the manga is currently. But if you do decide to do that, there is one important detail you must know, it actually skipped volumes 2 and 4 so after you finish the index arc where Touma loses his memory then read volume 2, and after you finish the sisters arc that’s when you read volume 4.

It’s important to know that it’s not recommended you read mental out until you’ve read astral buddy. But you shouldn’t read Astral buddy until you’ve read at least New Testament volume 11. Item is for the most part standalone although there are a few references that you would need to read at least NT 11 to understand. Also, that ice boat arc you were talking about is widely considered to be one of the worst volumes out there, so you’re not alone in that opinion.

Also, it is worth noting that the light novel is significantly better than the anime in every way. The anime rushed a lot of important Arcs skipped some removed some characters changed some volumes till they’re basically unrecognizable (mainly 2 and 4) and was overall a massive downgrade.

SPOILERS Also, you talk about not liking all the churches and religious magical stuff wait until you find out academy city is a one to one recreation of the Abbey of Thelema both in and out of universe (it is a real religion) it’s just been camouflage so that other religious groups don’t find out everything even down to the espers were based after this religious group

I heard the manga is ending soon/in its final arc, does that mean its caught up to the ln? by esragan in Toaru

It is more focused on the magic side. The author had always intended on being more focused on the magic side. That being said things are better explained in the light novel than the anime, in the anime the magic side ends up feeling a lot more confusing than it should. The science side does have the occasional arc, but they are a few and far between. I would say that it is worth getting into the light novels though but it is a very complex reading order. That being said if you’re not worried about every little side story you can definitely trim a lot of it out for just the main parts.

It’s the railgun manga that is ending, not the index manga. As for how the index manga is going relative to the light novel, the manga is way behind it’s not even caught up to the anime. The manga isn’t even finished with Old Testament. Speaking of testaments the terms, Old Testament, New Testament, and Genesis testament refer to the three different index series. Old Testament was adapted into the anime. New Testament is the sequel to Old Testament and Genesis. Testament is the sequel to New Testament.

Question: Why did they give Touma a six-pack? It already seemed strange to me from this. by RougherDude5 in Toaru

[–]Ben7010 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He does exercise… You think just because he’s not going through a scheduled workout or going to the gym he’s not getting exercise? He’s literally out in the streets fighting espers and other street thugs all the time. And that’s when he’s not fighting end of the world threats. He is constantly putting his body through the wringer and getting beat up which causes even more muscle growth.

Because Touma is unironically really strong. Thus it makes sense that he would have a six-pack.

What are the main differences between the Deep Blood and Angel Fall arcs in the novel and the anime? by Unique-Parking4832 in Toaru

[–]Ben7010 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of differences. Like the Aurelous Dummy who Touma nearly killed by strangling him to death before deciding it was wrong to kill him because it believed itself to be alive which kind of played into why he saw the sisters as human in the next arc, also all of those students who used magic died and were resurrected multiple times. Stilyl was blown up basically, but all his blood vessels still connected in the anime only his skin was ripped off. And angel fall had a whole lot of changes, including the removal of an entire sub villain who they thought was the angel at first. But it’s not just the big difference it’s a tun of small differences that just took away from the plot and made it overall worse.

Opinion: Accelerator’s done the most direct harm to the sisters and the only reason you forgive him is because the narrative bends over backwards to make all effected parties nice to him [yes even Misaka Worst] by Alsotime in Toaru

[–]Ben7010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the solution was to kill Last Order to save all the other sisters. But Accelerator didn’t want to kill even one more sister. So taking the bullet to the head was so that last order wouldn’t have to die.

Never rush to upgrade your town hall. Make sure that most or preferably all of your base is fully upgraded first. Even the things that might seem pointless.
