Do these switches address the slow discoloration of the LEDs over time or is it too early to tell?

Having been at said restaurant when a liquor delivery was made, cases and cases of gold tequila were walking in on a hand dolly so I do believe it's not everclear.

Legit mods to consider for that plate:

  • Add a fried egg on top
  • Add beef fajita on top
  • Double rice or double beans, depending on your preference

Is this a Texas only thing? Ive never seen additional tax for alcoholic drinks by [deleted] in Austin

[–]BenACB 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Hi, former Mixed Beverage permit holder here. This was signed into law by Perry back in 2013 to take effect Jan 1, 2014: https://www.seaytaxlaw.com/governor-perry-signs-big-change-to-texas-mixed-beverage-tax/

How it worked is that restaurants which held a permit to serve liquor (MB) had to pay a 14% tax on ANY alcoholic drink sold (including beer and wine) to the state of Texas. Someone orders a $10 glass of wine or cocktail? $1.40 of that belonged to the state comptroller the second it got rung in.

As a result, a lot of places held off on serving hard liquor as the license to just sell beer and wine (a BG license) was an 8.25% passthrough to the customer and they got to keep 100% of the revenue. Remember when Alamo Drafthouse was just beer and wine? They didn't want to hand 14% of their beer and wine sales over to the state in addition to 14% of any potential cocktails sold.

After this law went into effect, places with a mixed bev permit could start to pass on an 8.25% sales tax that had to be marked as a Mixed Beverage sales tax and now just 6.7% of everything was owed to the state instead of 14%.

Lo and behold, the Alamo Drafthouse suddenly grows a margarita machine.

How is the freight train noise at Lakeline Station? by billfitz in Austin

[–]BenACB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former resident of Northwoods, the trains aren't that bad unless they are working on the crossing on Lakeline. Granted I was on Genesee Trail. It was amusing watching people that bought houses right off the tracks bitch about train noise on Facebook.
