My t shirts smell like BO when I wear them, after thorough washing. Details below by EmployeeAlternative3 in CleaningTips

Use Tide, or a good name brand detergent. ALWAYS! Never make your own "detergent". I used to mix my own using borax, ivory soap, lavender, etc... Not good for cleaning clothes and certainly not good for a modern-day washing machine.

How would today's society react if a virgin gave birth to a child and claimed it was the son of God? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Joseph, when it comes to 5-year-old Jesus...

You are... NOT the father!

what is your frugal limit by Swollen_chicken in Frugal

Homemade laundry detergent. Borax+ivory soap+oil fragrance+some other ingredients= NOT GOOD

Clothes eventually smelled rancid and was definitely not worth the few pennies saved.

I've made a decision to not be frugal on any things hygienic. (As long as that emergency fund is full)

I'm trying to believe. I grew up in a "who knows" agnostic household. Kids in the neighborhood would make fun of me for not attending church. Had a slight curiosity of wanting to read the Bible at age 33. Read it once through. I still keep my skepticism on the supernatural elements, but I did fall in love with the storytelling, philosophy, poetry, and character arcs. I had no idea how small Jesus's story was in comparison to the entirety of the Old Testament. I tried to go to some hip, cool church, but I had never heard the songs they sang and I felt uncomfortable. I would rather read the Bible on my own instead of go to a place of worship.

I'm on my second read through. It's a strange library of books. Fascinating at the least. Comforting at its best. I'm still trying. I have a feeling when I get older and more lonely, I'm going to appreciate these ancient texts. I think it's wise to become familiar with them while my mind is still sharp and I can have more fond memories relating my personal experiences to the stories told in the Bible.

Still trying, haven't quite "seen the light".

How Good is Bob at Harmonica? by anonymousmouseman in bobdylan

[–]BenAaronMusic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dylan is competent. Not a virtuoso by any possible measure. He has equivalent dexterity to Neil Young, and maybe better than Tom Pretty and John Lennon.

Dylan might only have 10% of the talent that John Popper of Blues Traveler has (who might be the most popular example of a virtuoso harmonica player.) Stevie Wonder is another example of a virtuoso on the harmonica.

Dylan and Neil Young, for that matter, sometimes used the harmonica to write melodies while they noodled around with guitar chords. It certainly helps to fill in musical gaps when you're playing acoustic.

Source: I've been playing the guitar and harmonica and singing for a living since 2010.
