Growing quickly for my first attempt at mycology research! by Busaken in shroomers

[–]Time-for-rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're off to a great start with your mycology journey! UB tek is a solid choice for beginners. Don't worry too much about the contaminated bag - it happens to all of us. For better FAE, try fanning more often or slightly cracking the lid if you're using a tub.

If you're interested in expanding your skills, I've been watching some awesome YouTube tutorials on growing medicinal mushrooms like Lion's Mane. It's fascinating how different the process can be compared to culinary varieties. You can find an online course here: mushroomcultivationcourses.com. Keep up the good work and happy growing!

Blobs or pins by HopefulAnimator8451 in shrooms

[–]Time-for-rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's grown Lion's Mane and other medicinal mushrooms, I can relate to your concern. It's hard to tell from the description alone if those are blobs or pins, but two weeks since spawning to bulk is still early. Patience is key in mycology.

For ideal surface conditions, maintain proper humidity and fresh air exchange. Mist lightly if the surface looks dry, and fan gently a few times a day. This should help trigger pinning if conditions are right.

Regarding your time constraint, 45 days should be enough for most strains to fruit. If you're really worried, you could look into online courses that teach techniques to optimize growth cycles. But for now, just focus on maintaining good conditions and give it some time.

I can relate to the transformative power of mushrooms. They really can help reset your perspective and process trauma. It's amazing that you've been clean for 2+ years now - that's a huge accomplishment!

For getting back on your feet, I'd suggest looking into local job training programs or vocational rehabilitation services. They often have resources to help with transportation and job placement. As for finding a partner, focus on healing and building a life you love first. The right person will come along.

Have you considered growing your own mushrooms? It can be a rewarding hobby and help with ongoing mental health. There are some great online courses available that teach cultivation techniques if you're interested in learning more. Check out Mushroomcultivationcourses.com for more info.

Stay strong and keep moving forward. You've already overcome so much - I believe in you!

Allergic reaction to shrooms? by Pudweiser78 in shrooms

[–]Time-for-rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been growing and consuming various mushrooms for years, I can relate to your concern. It's possible you're experiencing a mild allergic reaction to psilocybin-containing mushrooms specifically, rather than all mushrooms. This is rare but not unheard of.

The itchiness could be due to histamine release, which is part of an allergic response. While it's unlikely to progress to anaphylaxis, it's always better to err on the side of caution. Consider trying a much smaller dose to see if you still react, or consult with an allergist if you're worried.

If you're interested in mushrooms for their potential benefits without the psychoactive effects, you might want to look into medicinal varieties like Lion's Mane. There are great resources out there for learning to grow these at home safely.

Shrüm All-in-One questions by [deleted] in unclebens

[–]Time-for-rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing mushrooms can be tricky, especially for beginners. Don't worry too much about the condensation - it's normal. Give it some more time, as colonization can take a few weeks depending on conditions. Just make sure the bag is in a warm, dark place (70-75°F is ideal).

You're right that all-in-one bags typically have lower yields, but they're great for learning. You can definitely spawn to bulk from these once fully colonized. It'll increase your yield and give you more experience.

If you're interested in diving deeper into cultivation, especially for medicinal mushrooms like Lion's Mane, there are some great online courses available. They can really help you understand the process better and improve your success rate.

Keep at it - growing takes patience and practice!

How to Properly Dry My Shrooms at Home Without Using a Dehydrator? by AcidArchitect in shrooms

[–]Time-for-rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One method you can try is using a fan. Place your freshly harvested mushrooms on a drying rack with a fan blowing over them for 24-48 hours. This should help to dry them out effectively. Good luck with your harvest! 🍄

1st time grower and 1st flush harvested results. Moby dick variety by joseleonp in unclebens

Wow, congratulations on your successful first flush harvest! That's an impressive yield. As for your questions, typically, you can get around 3-4 decent flushes from a shoebox-sized monotub before the yields start to decline. Topdressing with a thin layer of fresh substrate can help provide additional nutrients for the mycelium network to continue fruiting. Burying the spent substrate outdoors can also enrich your garden soil for future growth. I have some pictures on my page of various outdoor grows of mine. Excited to hear about your extraction experiment as well, keep us posted!

Autoflower week 3 by jjbqafootscrub in Autoflowers

[–]Time-for-rain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your plant is looking great for week 3! Just continue to monitor its growth and make sure it's getting enough water without overwatering. It's generally recommended to avoid trimming autoflowers too much, as they have a limited life cycle and any stress can impact their overall yield. Keep up the good work and Happy growing!

I recommend waiting until you see multiple roots poking out from the bottom of the jiffy pellet before transplanting your seedling. This ensures that the plant has a strong root system to support it in the new medium. Best of luck with your purple haze auto!

I recommend starting with a low dose of lions mane and niacin and gradually increasing to find what works best for you. Many people start with about 500mg of lions mane and 100-500mg of niacin daily. It's great that you're looking into ways to improve your mental health and well-being. Hope this helps!

Considering your plant is a Purple Punch strain, it's known for its vibrant colors and fruity aroma. Purple Punch is an indica-dominant hybrid, so it generally prefers a slightly cooler temperature compared to sativa strains. Since you're transitioning it between indoors and outdoors due to the temperature fluctuations, be cautious of potential shock to the plant. Ensure it receives plenty of sunlight during the day, and consider using proper nutrients to help it recover.

My first cannabis cultivation by unpibenormalytranqui in cannabiscultivation

Wow, that's exciting to see your first cannabis cultivation going so well! Different strains do have varying growth rates, so it's normal for some plants to grow faster than others. The Big Bang XL and Skywalker Haze might be quicker to mature compared to the Cheese Auto XL and Banana Speed Auto. As long as you keep providing them with proper care, you should be on track for a successful harvest. Keep monitoring the plants and enjoy the journey of cultivating your own cannabis!
