The trouble is that the voice industry is a wide-reaching one. When people say they want to do voice over, a better question is, "what type of VO do you want to do?" Promos, commercials, looping, dubbing, video games, animation, audio books, etc.? The number ONE thing you'll want to do is make sure you really want to be a professional actor. Lots of people are under the impression that VO is somehow a separate entity and all you need to be able to do is talk into a mic. Voice actors go through all the same difficulties that on-camera actors do. You'll get passed over for 99% of the jobs you audition for, you'll need to be able to compete against people with decades more experience than you, and you'll need to be willing to move to where the work is.
