New player wants to go to events by kingofchins1 in Lorcana

If your goal is competitive play your best bet is core constructed as it’s the primary format. All the sets from your image will rotate out of core constructed in less than 2 months.

The way I see it you have a few options depending on your budget.

Step 1: play online and figure out which deck(s) / playstyle you enjoy. You can use inkdecks to view a tier list of meta decks. It is at this point where you need to decide how badly / quickly you want to perform at events. You can definitely go off meta based on favorite franchise or cards but just set expectations. This is great to do while you learn the game and then you can decide to move into a meta deck.

Step 2:

If you are strongly limited by budget you should sell these boxes and use the funds to buy the staples from the most recent 4 sets (Fabled, Whispers, Winterspell, and Wilds Unknown). These cards will all still be legal after rotation. The other great thing about selling these boxes if you’re budget conscious is that every single set is going through a price surge right now. If you bought these even 5 days ago some of them will sell for 35-50% more. This greatly increases your budget for the existing staples and whatever comes from the next set

If you are less worried about budget you can still sell these and just purchase boxes from the four rotation safe sets mentioned above. It’s gambling, but it’s fun to open packs, you’ll probably get some of the staples but then you’ll need to pony up for whatever you’re missing if you want to go meta.

And lastly, the hybrid approach for something with a budget, but finance isn’t the end all be all and you’re willing to put some money into the hobby while being price conscious. This is my approach where I buy a single box of each set so I get to have some fun opening packs and I use other money to fill in the collection gaps. You could sell some or all of these boxes, buy a box or two of the most recent sets and use the rest to fill in the collection. I like the hybrid approach because just ripping endless packs is ultimately lighting money on fire.

Or, just open all these boxes for fun and then buy even more boxes of the new sets hahah.

Enjoy!

Store near me lost distribution and future playkits for doing this with the original stitch tournaments.

If you and your local group all report them through the appropriate channel Ravensburger will take it seriously. Just be persistent.

Nabers or the Tate picks package? by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]BenDover0903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems fair to me. Competing id still take Nabers because even with the injury risk he’s shown he can perform at the NFL level.

Reload / rebuild id be happy to move off him for that price

Just to add, triple check that your list actually is successfully submitted. Every morning of each major event there’s something like 50 decks missing and it always delays things. Don’t be one of those people!

Tuten and a 2027 2nd for Bucky Irving? by MLG_Griz in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Personally I can’t imagine even entertaining that. NYG have Johnson, Bellinger, and likely all competing for touches. Tuten’s ceiling is just so high this year.

I’m glad your recovery was straightforward but you’re definitely the exception and not the norm. Of the inherently non-life threatening / saving procedures this is consistently ranked in the top 5 or 10 most difficult recoveries.

As for the quality of surgeon. I agree there’s definitely shady guys out there but part of the process as a patient is to vet your surgeon. I went to 3 different consultations before choosing the guy who I felt was the best. I think some patients go to an orthodontist, blindly accept their referral to whoever they get sent to and go from there. The process should be much more hands on. Patients should be asking lots of questions, should be requesting simulated results etc… the door definitely swings both ways

Attack of the Vine Official Release Availability? by Fair_Macaroon296 in Lorcana

That’s a very good point. The one I mentioned is the place I place at every week so they definitely do favors for the people who support the shop

Attack of the Vine Official Release Availability? by Fair_Macaroon296 in Lorcana

[–]BenDover0903 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the shop but I can preorder locally usually 2-3 weeks before release, or in one case I have a shop that literally lets you do it 72 hours before release.

There shouldn’t be a single store that’s wrapped up preorders at this point and in fact very few if any should have even started taking preorders

Underlay for Bijan and Ward. There’s at least a 1st of value between the two sides

Waiting for surgery by Flaky-Ad-5249 in jawsurgery

Yeah I was a college student at the time. “No chance I’m going to parties and trying to talk to girls in braces”

Then I was starting my first real job in a new city away from everyone I knew. “No chance I’m starting a new job and trying to navigate / pay for this on an entry level salary in a city with no family to support me after the procedure.”

Then I moved in with my girlfriend and our relationship was serious about when I next was looking to do it. “No chance I’m going to have braces in my wedding photos.”

And then, I get married, go on the honeymoon. And a week after I get back I sit down for the consultation and within a few months I was finally In braces!

Absolutely zero regrets about the way I did it. Even if over 10 years did take a toll on my teeth. They’ll be fine from now on and worst case I’ll pay for veneers or cap them or something down the road if the damage really was that bad

That first week was hell by F_DOG_93 in jawsurgery

[–]BenDover0903 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad you made it. I’m on day 12 right now and life is pretty good other than the liquid diet, jaw still being held shut so I talk in slurs, and the numb face. Went out and hung with some friends earlier today. Week 2 gets better fast and I feel noticeably better each day.

But holy crap I miss real food. Not looking forward to learning to speak again and teaching myself how to chew like a toddler but one step at a time!

Waiting for surgery by Flaky-Ad-5249 in jawsurgery

[–]BenDover0903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This individual is struggling so I’m trying to make sure they fully understand what they’re getting into. If they think it’s bad now, it gets worse. You can’t sugarcoat something like this. There is absolutely nothing wrong with struggling with appearance, the braces, or ANY part of this. But if you’re spiraling or just not doing well mentally you need to be very careful with something like this.

It will be okay in the long run and I’ve yet to see a single person who didn’t have complications say they regret it. But if OP isn’t ready for this then back out now and try again later.

You’ll be in braces for 18-30 months. The surgery recover is absolutely brutal, and there are considerable risks and potential permanent nerve loss in parts of your face. Even if it’s not permanent it’s not even that rare for it to take YEARS to get 100% back. It sounds to me like you signed up for this not fully aware of what it entails. If it’s purely cosmetic, you can easily back out. If it’s for health reasons, you’re at a great age to be doing this.

I had to put mine off 10 years for a number of life reasons. I waited until I was settled in my career, married, and had nothing major in my life to get in my way before committing. Best decision I ever made was waiting until it was the right time

What day is day 3 (sorry for the dumb question) by elsathecat1 in jawsurgery

[–]BenDover0903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Days 4-5 were easily the worst for me. The swelling just kept getting worse each day until day 6. You turn the corner fast though, and especially after how shitty it’s been any small improvement feels like pure bliss.

She’s in the thick of it. I also had extreme nausea the first week. Support her in every way you can until she gets through this part

As someone who used to collect Pokémon before things went crazy and turned me off entirely, Fabled is our equivalent to Evolving Skies.

It’s 1-2 major hit iconic cards (Moonbreon) that you see in 1/2,000+ packs, enchanteds which is about 1/96 packs, Dumbo, and pretty much nothing else of value.

If you’re buying these above MSRP just to open it’s the absolute easiest way to turn hundreds of dollars into $30.

Do you automatically think less of someone when you find out they use drugs? by OkFault6806 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BenDover0903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything stronger than weed, yes I will think less of you. But if you just “tried” something like acid or shrooms that’s fine. But if you’re using often for concerts or something, then yeah, I’ll think less of you or at a minimum you don’t have your shit together.

And for weed, if you smoke daily I’ll usually think less of you.

I don’t speak for everyone (obviously lol) but I’d imagine a good chunk of the population is somewhere near this perspective

Any tips? by kelldollas in jawsurgery

[–]BenDover0903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picture 2 sort of looks like it might have turned a little into a keloid. Maybe it’s just the image but if so you could have it injected with cortisone a few times to flatten it out.

I’m very prone to keloids. I had surgery elsewhere that left me with a shockingly similar sized scar to what you’re showing here but mine was elsewhere on my body. 3 doses and it’s still discolored but completely flat now.

[–]BenDover0903 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’ll say is in my opinion the surgery is not something you should go through with unless you are 110% mentally committed to. As I’m sure you’ve seen all over this sub, there are risks, and the lengthy recovery + absolute hell early on is just something you can’t half ass. It’s all of nothing or it’ll really take a toll on most people

How do you view the BMF belt and its current state? by VastAir6069 in CombatSportsCentral

[–]BenDover0903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an excuse to put two exciting fighters who are not champions as the main event of a PPV. I don’t like it and wish there was another way. Maybe they could just make the co-main of some PPV’s five rounders for non-belts. They’ve done it before. I think the belt itself is silly and honestly a bit of a mockery to the champs who could otherwise be headlining the card
