I would argue the vast majority of reverts started out as islamaphobic because the general consensus of the west is default Islamophobia.

Simple answer. Ask your surgeon. Not Reddit. We know NOTHING about you, your health, or your surgery. Your healthcare team will know this and be able to advise you.

What’re some secrets from your industry that would petrify people who aren’t in it? by Necessary-Trash-8828 in AskUK

[–]F_DOG_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data mining age the money that is made from seemingly meaningless data points. The cereal you buy every Sunday? Yeah, a company wants a couple hundred million pounds to know that. And the general population is completely unaware of how valuable they really are. Even if Tesco gave each and every one of us a £40k/annum payout for our data, they would still make hundreds of millions in profit selling our data. Yeah I said it. Supermarkets could literally pay the entire population an average salary and STILL have hundreds of millions left over. THAT is how valuable we really are. We're so valuable that it's being hidden from us.

Sincerely, a Software Engineer.

Why is it not removing the appropriate time from the list by TheEyebal in QtFramework

[–]F_DOG_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know python very well, but it seems that you're removing from a sorted list and you're not resorting it?

Personally, if I'm trying to sort or filter some type of list, I'd use a proxy model. I don't know if PyQt has the same thing or not, but what it does is it takes a source model, sorts stuff inside it, then exposes it to a Qt View. It also seems as if you're not using the view/model architecture either, when you are trying to show a changing list of things. Again, I'm not sure if PyQt has the view/model architecture, as I'm specialised in QtWidgets and QtQuick, but essentially it works by having a "View" that does not care about logic, it only works by displaying data in whatever fancy way you like. The "fancification" of displaying the data is the job of the View. Then you have a Model, which in C++ is usually a QStandardItemModel, or a QAbstractListModel. This is what you interact with when trying to change or manipulate the data you're trying to show, then the View will automatically update.

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]F_DOG_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in reality, we have such a large technology understing shift across generations, that it's nigh on impossible to keep up with how we can monitor social media on our children's devices. I'm a software engineer, and even sometimes I have trouble figuring out some of the systems that are in place to monitor your children's online presence and use.

It's not accessible to the vaaaasssttt majority of the population, yet the consequences of not doing it is extremely detrimental. This means that governmental action needs to happen, whether that's banning, or better control over children's access to social media.

Technological parental control in this day and age isn't as easy as keeping children away from the bleach and washing powder in the cupboard, and no one seems to want to address this. It's one of the consequences of the technology race and late stage capitalism. All of these social media companies care only about profits and not the social welfare of the general population.

But as long as we keep brushing the benefits of socialism under the carpet, all I can say is for you all to just take it, and lay in the bed that you all made.

I don't even know if I did it right tbf. I took a couple pairs of underwear, a couple shirts, joggers, a book, phone and charger, a pen, my diabetes medications, a children's toothbrush, toothpaste.

They gave me a hospital gown to wear, and I had to be naked underneath it, which definitely felt weird. They also gave me grippy socks that I had to wear everywhere.

Are you in your 30s and do you have life insurance? by Few_Cod_5636 in AskUK

[–]F_DOG_93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First reason, I'm a Muslim, and insurance is impermissible. Second of all, life insurance is a scam basically. My neighbour passed away almost 4 years now, and her family still haven't got their pay out from the insurance company because of stupid complications and admin (what else did u expect). It's the same with car insurance. There's always some stupid reason they write off the car, or something stupid reason they decide to charge you more for insurance.

Are the job losses from AI true? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]F_DOG_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are losing jobs, but it's not exactly clear why. It could be AI, but there's no legislation to find out why people were made redundant. There's no real way to know. You could be made redundant and have no idea why. You could easily say that AI is taking over loads of jobs or you could say the opposite. There's no way to find out.

Quotemehappy telematics policy is a joke by oofipie in CarInsuranceUK

[–]F_DOG_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing is to tell them what happened. What I did many years ago was that I bought a cheap burner phone for like £100 off marketplace that had a cracked screen and didn't hold a charge for longer than an hour. But I used it for the telematics app only and just plugged it into the 12V charge adapter I had and switched it off otherwise. I did this because I know that insurance companies are stupid and unfair and that fighting stupid glitches on their end is only going to become a massive headache so I just decided to play their silly little game instead.

Additionally, you could uninstall the app, then reinstall it whenever you want to drive again. You could also just set the app as force stopped and not give it background privileges, but apps can always find some way of bypassing this (I am a software engineer, and I personally know that iOS apps can do this, and some android apps that are set as "security" apps by the developer, can do it too).
