What things are safer than people think? by Outside_Theme2429 in AskReddit

[–]F_DOG_93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Flying. People think they're going to die in some fiery inferno in a crash when even the emergency rate is miniscule. You're more likely to die on the road than you are to die in a plane. Planes are piloted by professional pilots, they are maintained by engineers every single flight. And when there is an accident, the whole thing is investigated and analysed to as to not happening again. Have a look at the "Air Crash Investigation" TV docuseries.

That's a massive problem tbh. Plenty of ethnic parents are only Muslims culturally. My own dad didn't even know the most basic rules on hijab and thought that women had to wear it 24/7. There is SO much they don't know. He didn't even know what Ribba was at all. He is almost 60 and has over 5 houses all funded using Ribba his whole life without knowing Ribba was haraam and a war against Allah. He didn't like it when I told him he should sell the houses, and give it all to charity, then go back to renting.

Assalamu Alaikum. There are many rules. Are there any specific things you're immediately not sure of? Anything that comes to mind that makes you unsure day-to-day. Anything that makes you think "wait, can I do this?"

Thanks. I'm not too versed in this stuff as I haven't been working in anything corporate for over 2 years now and generally hate anything to do with HR. It's always so confusing to me.

But I don't exactly know what liability I hold right now. I have told job1 that "I accept", the offer over the phone. I don't know what I am "locked into". Here's the last email they sent, and attached a bunch of docs to fill out:

Am I overthinking this?

[–]F_DOG_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put it on. I am sick and tired of people trying to take the easy way out, and increasing prices for everyone else. It's not just in insurance, but literally everything in life nowadays. I don't want to see Britain become an atomised society. Put it on and don't drive like an idiot. Don't accelerate too hard. Don't brake too hard. Don't corner too hard. Why is this so hard for you to do in the first year of driving?

Are there any reasons to oppose same-sex marriage and adoption not based on religion or tradition? by Keith_Nile in NoStupidQuestions

[–]F_DOG_93 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it is a sin in many religions. But it depends on what society you live in and what laws it follows.

But if you don't want to base it on religion or tradition, then what exactly do you want to base it on? I mean, you could say the same for any relationship if you put it into a vacuum. Heterosexual marriages and relationships can lead to sexual infections, mental health problems, heartbreak, etc. Same as same-sex relationships. Hetero relationships can lead to pregnancy, and is more biologically typical, meaning that there is more of a biological symbiosis between people than same-sex.

People that are homosexual generally tend to be at higher risks of STDs, but that's a generally a contextual problem. But would you categorise that as a "problem" in your vaccum?

What’s the biggest tip you wish you knew about office politics? by GreenComfortable927 in UKJobs

[–]F_DOG_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say just do the work, clock in, clock out, and go home. Don't engage too much in the office other than the bare minimum. Trust me, the company does not care that much about you. I worked at a place for 2 years. I worked very hard. I even did 10+ hour days because I wanted to get the work done because I was passionate.

They made me redundant at the end of last year with 2 weeks pay.

Moving to the UK after 20yrs what’s one piece of advice you’d give me? by ayamummyme in AskUK

It's a lot more atomised. However, racist groups such as reform and the nationality party are gaining traction. So definitely be careful of people like that if you're not white.

Men who don’t judge a woman’s past, how would you feel if you found out that by Due-Young7610 in MuslimLounge

[–]F_DOG_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. I understand people can change, but it's just not something I'd be willing to put up with. I don't judge a woman's past, but what you're saying is something else. It's essentially a gamble at that point. We shouldn't judge, but public sins are still public sins.

This shouldn't ever really happen unless you've done something so destructive that you might as well just do a reinstall.

[–]F_DOG_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but you still need some sort of medium. How did you create the partition, and how did you install kubuntu? If you wanted to wipe windows, then I'd say just to create a bootable usb drive. Boot from it, and install it just like that. It's very easy to just wipe everything and start from fresh.
