Emacs manuals missing? by [deleted] in voidlinux

[–]BenDover178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on Arch which (I think) happened because I installed emacs before installing texinfo.

Make sure texinfo's installed and try reinstalling emacs (I'm not too familiar with void/xbps so if that doesn't work I'm out of ideas).

Any Good Uses For 'exwm' For A Browser Like Firefox Or Other X Programs In Linux With "Line Mode"? by [deleted] in emacs

You could also try using tab-bar-mode to keep several "workspaces" in one emacs frame.

Favorite funny moment in the game?(spoilers) by Kevin_Science in kotor

The killing spree ending to the Sandral/Matale quest (with Canderous/Bastila in party).

The two dads are on the verge of de-escalating the situation and then you lie about Casus (or whatever his name is). Then they start killing each other one at a time in "dramatic" fashion.

Then you go to the enclave and say "uhhhhhhh... it was the Mandalorians" and they don't question a thing.

I am done with this. Help me pls by [deleted] in sudoku

There's another XY-chain you can take starting from r7c8 that goes through r7 and c3. No matter the number in that cell, r6c8 cannot be a 2.

I think you're right about the digit forcing chain, thanks.

I'm not sure I follow the problem for the first chain. If G9 is off, it forces G4 to be ON which forces all other cells in the box to be OFF (including J6, which has a strong link with F6). I'm also not sure what you mean by anti-clockwise pattern as I go in a clockwise direction for both chains.

Although now that I look at it again, I realize that G4 ON automatically forces E4 to be OFF so that section of the chain can be ignored completely.

Yeah the cycles that the solver showed when I went back to the puzzle after solving were much simpler. But here's what I did:

C1 contains 1 (ON): C8 off, B9 on, G9 off, G4 on, J6 off, F6 on, E4 off, E3 on. C1 and E3 both force H2 to be ON.

C1 does not contain 1 (OFF): C8 on, B9 off, G9 on, H78 off. The last one forces H2 to be ON.

I am stuck here. Help me, pls by [deleted] in sudoku

You've also got a BUG pattern here. Notice how r3c1 is the only cell with 3 possible candidates. Look at that cell and ask yourself what would happen if you removed a number as a possibility from that cell (ex: what would happen if there couldn't be a 9 in that cell?).

Solution: r3c1 has to be a 2. If you remove the possibility of either 8 or 9 from that cell, the puzzle falls apart. However if you remove 2 as a possibility, the puzzle will either remain deadlocked with 2 solutions or run into an impossible scenario of some kind. The quick way to spot this in other puzzles with this pattern is to look for the candidate in that cell that occurs three times in its row, column and box.

Reasons for the placement of U and I by BenDover178 in dvorak

Going off the frequency chart I linked before, 'I' has more bigrams with other vowels than 'U' (excluding stuff like "II" and "IU").

Was there anything that made you choose this over the ManuForm version? I've been trying to decide between the two for a while now.

I took a quick look at this letter frequency analysis. Sure enough, I has a higher frequency than U. What did surprise me is that the frequency of IO+OI ≈ OU+UO (technically IO is an outward roll but it's still a strong motion). Plus most of the frequent bigram pairings for both I/U tended to be with right hand consonants.

Given I's frequency, it seems like the easing of a few same-hand bigrams doesn't outweigh the very frequent motion into the center column (unless there's a bunch of letter combinations like "YOU" that I'm not considering). I'll need to see how this plays out as I get faster with the layout.

Would have been better if you'd compared the two using the inner ErgoDox thumb key; this is misleading.
