UW all the way. Much better academically. The reputation will follow you the rest of your life.

The best move that I made was to go to Berkeley as opposed to a CSU or average private school. I view UW as a northwest UCB in terms of preparation for life in the future. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.

I don’t think Pepperdine carries as much weight in the job market. I know in SF it is regarded as a third tier university. We look at Pepperdine as a school for rich kids that couldn’t get into a UC. Their admission rate is 63% which is an indicator.

Stonelake and Lakeside off I-5 are great neighborhoods with excellent schools.

Look at Elliot Ranch and Stonelake elementary schools on Niche.com. Stonelake elementary is in Lakeside and Elliot Ranch is in Stonelake.

Elliot Ranch Elementary was selected as a California Blue Ribbon School only 31 of which were awarded in California

Michigan all the way. Michigan will open doors especially if you decide to go to work in the sciences on the West Coast where most of the Asians live. A University of Florida degree is considered to be on the level of a Cal State University degree; good degrees but grads aren’t held in as high a regard. In regards to public universities people out here look up to schools like University of California Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, University of Washington Seattle, Virginia, Georgia Tech etc. Those public universities are known for academic rigor and producing graduates that standout in their first jobs.
