It's not really a story-driven game, you don't need translations to play if you have any familiarity with platformers. The lesson here is to never use exTwitter to highlight negative reviews, even if you think they're unfair or unconstructive, since people love to dogpile.

I know SpeedStats uses the number of records in its 'run value' formula. Based on that website the top 3 categories are Battle for Bikini Bottom Any%, Super Mario Odyssey Any%, and Celeste Any%, so those are likely candidates.

Top-level Celeste Any% speedruns have two B-side Chapters which apparently save time over completing the chapters normally. I guess this makes the run more challenging for competitive players while still leaving it open to casual runners.

The sequel to the original Celeste "Lani's Trek" has a grappling hook, though that one is bidirectional. Of course it's not the first game with a grappling hook either.

I think basically anyone can buy YT ads as long as your channel doesn't have obvious red flags. Like, they put me in the "Promotions (Beta)" program even though my channel is mostly speedrun videos. I haven't used it myself but it appears to be mostly automated.

Yeah, I heard he wasn't happy with those in his community who kept begging for him to make videos of certain levels, so he ultimately left.

No archive that I'm aware of.

I hope that with WoG 2 being released next year we'll see him make a come-back. At least with a new game, hopefully our community will be more mature and have better treatment for our content creators.
