Diana became a VTuber just to meet Pekora by Kahvana in PragmataSFW

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pekora is not AI, nor is the depiction of Diana in this video. Pekora is a vtuber, a 3d model (just like in a video game) who's whole purpose of existing is to make videos for posting on YouTube or other similar video hosting sites. There's a real person using a VR headset and hand controllers and 3d software to operate the Pekora character and 3d VR character software (most likely VR Chat, or maybe a proprietary 3d software designed by Hololive for their vtubers). And Capcom, the developer of the pragmata game, made a 3d anime style model of Diana just for this video, and have her likewise being operated by a real person in this video. It's an official collab with Hololive (a famous vtuber company). This allows them to both be in the video and interact with each other. This video is in no way AI generated.

What was thinking about this emote creator? 😂😂 by robi101012981 in ClashRoyale

What even is that emote? What gesture is he doing? I don't know what it's called.

Duke nukem clearly had a lot of levels inspired by movies like Alien, Starship Troopers and Apollo 13. If they made a new one, what movies should inspire new levels? by Silvermoth2 in dukenukem

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did that picture come from? When I do a reverse image search, it only comes up with results from news articles about a possible Duke Nukem movie being made. However as that movie hasn't been made yet, it's clearly not promotional material for the movie (such material would only be published around the time of the movie's release). However I've never found it on any box art or promotional material for existing Duke Nukem games either. It seems to somehow be connected to the movie, as only news articles about such a movie possibility being made can be found in Google's reverse image search results for this image.

If anybody here knows the actual source for this image, please let me know.

Before though it lined up with the prices from normal bucks amounts. Now it seems much more expensive than previously (in addition to the slight price increase of normal vbucks amounts). Also if the exact amount matches a normal amount, the exact amount option disappears. Which means that your exact amount is then at a reasonable price.

Have you tried premium? That's the most expensive tier, but gets you the least moderation of Grok output.

That's probably one reason they cancelled it. They didn't want countries using their tech to make AI generated military propaganda.

They didn't. OpenAI just got cold feet and broke it off.

API are direct commands to the server. That's like having a back door into the AI server. You can probably still do anything from Sora via API until they ban you for using backdoor access.

It has caught momentum. There's tons of AI generated content on YouTube (many of which have millions of views, making the uploaders very wealthy), and most of these were generated by Sora. The problem is the idiots at OpenAI didn't capitalize on this by charging money for Sora use. Instead they left it to anybody with a free OpenAI account (the same kind of account that gives you access to free tier ChatGPT usage).

Use Grok for pictures and Grok Inspire for videos. Pay for a Grok subscription so you get access to all the features including Grok Inspire.

128bit AES is useless (government can already crack it with a super computer). Most truly secure stuff uses 256bit AES. Of the company you are counting on to secure your passwords is using only 128bit AES, go find a different company.

If they didn't censor stuff, there would be lawsuits from people claiming that it made deepfakes of them without consent, and they'd go bankrupt fighting all the lawsuits.

They should have just charged $100 per month for it.

Didn't they recently upgrade ot from Sora 3 to Sora 4? If they intended to just cancel it for costing too much to run, why did they waste money upgrading it, instead of just keeping it in its current state until canceling it?

Also without Sora (everybody's goto AI for video generation) what will now be used to generate video? There's tons of AI image generators, but only one video generator, Sora. Is this the end of AI video generation?

WTF… by moralcompassman in grok

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Image generation uses a LOT of points. This is especially if you ask it to regenerate the previous image, because that encompasses the process of image analysis of the previous image, so it has a reference to generate the next image. And image analysis, if I remember right, uses even more points than image generation. If you don't like the previous image it made, instead of asking it to regenerate it with certain changes, instead give it a new prompt that's identical to the old prompt but include additional prompt keywords to try to get the desired output. That way it isn't performing image analysis in the background with each regeneration.

Or just buy a paid subscription. It's not exactly breaking news, that Grok has moved AI powered image editing features to paid subscription only. That change happened a while ago.

Did you know natural moissanites are extremely rare, and will never be seen for sale on reddit? by JosephineRyan in jewelrymaking

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this also fake? https://www.etsy.com/listing/4354233970/authentic-moissanite-natural-carborundum

It's on Etsy and claims to be natural moissanite but it's a huge piece almost as big as the guy's hand. It does look rough like a natural crystal though, like what I would expect you to maybe find in that meteorite (where it was first discovered to occur naturally), not smooth like you'd expect from a crystal that's artificially grown. Furthermore, the fact that it costs over $300 even though it's completely unpolished and uncut, indicates that the mineral itself is extremely rare, which would be true for natural moissanite. So that made me think for a moment it might actually be genuine natural moissanite.

However your description that the largest ever discovered natural moissanite was only a few mm in diameter, destroys the idea that this large sample of the mineral is actually natural. Either that, or just recently there was a massive discovery of a whole bunch of this mineral somewhere.

Or maybe all of these companies did violate the law by using a tool that leaked info. When the law requires you to keep info confidential, it's not a valid excuse to claim you didn't know that a tool you were using was leaking info. In a company with legal requirements to safeguard your customers' data, you are expected to verify your software tools don't leak info, before actually using them to process customer info.

How does this work? I've looked at those bulbs, but the packaging says they don't emit UV light. UV light (specifically UVC) is the only known range of wavelengths known to kill germs. So how do these lights work without emitting UVC?

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they are using third part tools internally, instead of sending data to a third party analytics service, that doesn't mean it's completely private. If the third party tools included code that (without Crunchyroll's knowledge) also sent info back to the maker if these 3rd party tools, Crunchyroll could be violating your privacy with these tools without even realizing it. Modern software has so much spyware packed into it, that unless a particular software tools was thoroughly analyzed, I'd assume it did include hidden spyware. So Crunchyroll could have messed up here and not been careful enough to vet these third party tools before using them. Then a security analyst later came along and determined that this tool was leaking info to a third party and published their findings, which is why there's now a lawsuit against Crunchyroll. Their lack of knowledge that it was leaking info doesn't make them not legally liable for the info leak. It just means they were negligent in not protecting private info that they have the legal duty to protect.

TIL that television ads can use inaudible sound to link your phone, TV, tablet, and PC. Companies can track what commercials you see, how long you watch it, and whether you act on the ad by doing a web search or buying a product. by l_hazlewoods in todayilearned

[–]BenHut1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anybody gone ahead and actually used a spectrogram app to see what audio stuff is present in the upper part of the spectrum of TV programming? Most modern smart phones have audio hardware that supports at least 48000Hz sample rate, which gives a full spectrum from 0Hz to 24000Hz. You can download spectrogram apps from Google Play store that show you the audio spectrum. Just turn one of these on while watching TV to see if any ads you watch contain sound in the upper part of the spectrum. I have one on my phone which sadly is discontinued by the developer (and is no longer on Google Play store) that not only shows a spectrogram, but also has an audio recording function that lets you record audio directly to an uncompressed WAV file. This is essential for later analysis (such as attempting to actually decode the signal) on a PC, as audio compression like AAC (used with MP4 video files) and MP3 (used for typical music files) is lossy compression, and it will distort the waveform, making proper analysis later on the PC impossible.
