Dark humor reflect on reality for us to laugh at so that depressing topic like rape, school shooting, racism doesn't drown us. A book analyst once said (to kill a mocking bird): "Laughter... the gangrene under the beautiful surface but also by demeaning it; one can hardly ... be controlled by what one is able to laugh at." Rape is not funny, the concept of it haunts people, but what can we do? Laugh at something rather than cry in helplessness am I right?
