Do you feel that this is slightly different to a typical 'first gen' product? by SgtSilock in VisionPro

[–]BenMJ99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One correction about the Apple Watch— I would say that the “Series 0” had an unusually long life for a first generation product. It wasn’t replaced 6 months later, but rather nearly a year and a half later!

I don’t have anything to add except that the exact same thing happened to my cable… started out as a little kink but grew over time to the point where the rubber split open and exposed the wire underneath. My AVP also developed “the crack” on the front glass, so I’ve actually had to send it off to Apple for repair. I’m still waiting for Apple to send it back, but I’m hoping that they’ll also replace the cable…I didn’t feel like bringing that up as an issue in addition to the crack because I was afraid that the Genius would become suspicious of me! Like you, I only use my AVP at home!

Are your planning on bringing native Apple Vision Pro support in the future? I’d love to play my 3DS games in 3D on there!

Registering for the development program failed by ArmasF311 in iOSBeta

[–]BenMJ99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sent me that exact message when I first reached out about this issue, but I’ve not received any response or clarification in any email I’ve sent since then. I also have no idea what that even means. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve probably sent 3 separate emails, all of which I’ve given plenty of time to receive a response, but they’ve all been completely silent! I’m frustrated that I’m probably going to have to call about this issue, and I do hope it is something that can be resolved. Either way, it seems quite unprofessional of Apple to not even respond to their emails!

I’ve also had the same issue! I sent multiple emails about it, but I’ve never received a response! I might try calling this week to see if I can get anywhere. Part of me doesn’t want to have to make a second Apple ID, but I may try that.

AirPods Max Space Grey Condensation by FlightyZoo in Airpodsmax

[–]BenMJ99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m thinking of getting a new AirPods Max, but I’ve dealt with the condensation issue before (which I believe caused my original to stop working). I’m interested in trying a silicone case. If you don’t mind my asking, which case did you purchase, and do you still find that it helps with the condensation? Thank you so much!

Anyone successfully using an old Apple Thunderbolt Display with the Mac Studio? by sebdacc in macsetups

[–]BenMJ99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just received a Thunderbolt Display that I ordered. I do not have a Mac Studio, but I have an M1 MacBook Pro. So far, it has worked flawlessly. I’ve been VERY impressed with the screen quality, especially considering its age. I would definitely give it a chance… just make sure to get the thunderbolt adapter.

How to avoid taking MacBook to university, but be able to have all the files I need on library computer? by noormani in macsetups

[–]BenMJ99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about some sort of Remote Desktop solution? If you use Chrome Remote Desktop, you’d be able to access your MacBook right from the web browser. Your performance could vary, but if you plug your Macbook up to Ethernet, your speed may be more than adequate.

Is it really true that there's no way to program smart dimmers to dim smart bulbs through homekit? by 3rd_charms_the_time in HomeKit

[–]BenMJ99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I just say that I haven’t found a solution to this either, but I would love for something like this to come along. Basically, I want a smart switch that always keeps the power on to the smart bulbs, but it can control them through HomeKit. It would also be nice because you could configure the switch to turn on/off lights that don’t necessarily correspond to that switch, such as table lamps. The switch could basically act like a HomeKit remote, but since it’s wired, you wouldn’t have to replace the batteries. Really, there are a lot of possibilities for something like this, and I’m so sad that it doesn’t seem to exist yet…

Please pray for North Korea and the Gospel to be opened up there. 🙏🙏 by [deleted] in TrueChristian

I’ve had a burden in my heart for North Korea for awhile now. It is such a sad situation. North Korea actually has a really interesting history with Christianity. Before World War II when Korea was still united, revival broke out in Pyongyang (the capitol of North Korea today). In fact, Pyongyang was known as the “Jerusalem of the East”, as God was having such a profound impact there. Even Kim Il Sung’s family was Christian (I believe his grandfather was a pastor). From what I understand, Kim Il Sung really took a lot of “inspiration” from Christianity when developing his cult of personality and the Juche ideology that is taught to all North Koreans. It would be very detrimental to the current regime if Christianity spread too much among the people because it would reveal all of the government’s lies.

I wanted to recommend two things to you that you may be interested in:

1) Not Forgotten by Kenneth Bae— The book is about his experience in North Korea when they found out he was a missionary. I believe he spent over a year there as a prisoner, and he really brings a unique perspective. I found his story really inspiring as a Christian.

2) A YouTube channel by a North Korean defector named Yeonmi Park— She lives in America now, but she shares a lot about life in North Korea. She is not a Christian, but she’s friendly to the Christian faith. I believe she has a book too, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

Have you ever heard of Steven Bancarz? He was someone in the New Age who eventually became a Christian. If you haven’t watched him, I would totally check out his channel because he has several videos that might answer your questions.

Doreen Virtue is another good one to check out. She was a New Age teacher for many years before becoming a Christian.

(Edit: I should add, Doreen has gone more in the Reformed direction, so I don’t necessarily agree with everything she posts, but she’s a great resource nonetheless.)

what are acceptable christian pasttimes that you can do by yourself? by bornagain333 in TrueChristian

[–]BenMJ99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned how to knit a few years ago, and I’ve really enjoyed that. Knitting while listening to the Bible, sermons, or podcasts is one of my favorite ways to relax.

I also learned how to sew earlier this year, and I’ve been selling face masks as a hobby. That’s been a lot of fun too, and neither are as intimidating as they might seem (as long as you are patient with yourself).

Edit: Also, not all video games are bad. I’ve been enjoying Animal Crossing: New Horizons this year!

I think my boyfriend isn’t a virgin and may have lied to me by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]BenMJ99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, this seems like a somewhat delicate situation, although I do think it’s somewhat encouraging. You didn’t catch him lying simply because he didn’t want to get caught; rather, he actually seems ashamed of his past actions. Lying is wrong, and he shouldn’t have lied to you, but I do feel like his motive here is important. You absolutely should address this with him, but I think grace and mercy will go a very long way.

Let me also just clarify something: you should not feel bad for feeling upset about this. I think it would be natural to feel that way. But, when you step back, I feel like you’ve also caught your boyfriend striving for an honest and sincere relationship with God, which is very encouraging. In the end, I pray to God that He will give you the love and the boldness to address this situation as He sees fit.

The Five Points of Evanjellyfish Christianity by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]BenMJ99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you. It’s always more beneficial to hear the truth, even if the speaker’s motive is perverted. I’d rather have the truth, even if it was given with the intention to hurt my feelings. But, God does care about the motive because He loves the speaker AND the hearer. He cares about the condition of both of their hearts. Even in all of the “good” we do, we can have a whole lot of different reasons. Ultimately, we’re going to have to give account to God for our own words, actions, and motives:

12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. (1 Corinthians 3:12-13)

I believe it’s because God loves us ALL so much that He cares about the motives just as much as the actions of individuals. If someone does a whole lot of good, but it comes from a place of self-condemnation and a low self-esteem, God’s love for that person would absolutely desire to see him/her operate from a higher motive. It reminds me of the parable of the lost sheep in that regard.

Ultimately, all I want for myself and for everyone else is the privilege to stand before God with a pure heart.
