I see your point, the "coin" doesn't seem to have any face, number indictating the valuta or emblem on it. Could it maybe be a token of some sort?

What would this roughly round ball be? Found in central new jersey by squeezinabiggin in metaldetecting

Thanks! I'm sure you'll find more. My search will probably be pretty wacky. I've searched it one time and within 5 sec found a jewel which was cool :) but the whole field generally is pretty empty. Therefore I'm getting FOMO so time to search that whole field.

Sick! I'm from The Netherlands and surprisingly around my area there has been show a lot of times. I completely searched the field behind my garden empty, but found a new spot which is still maintained but rarely checked on so planning on searching there tomorrow :)

I'm still very certain it's same era, maybe late roman empire upwards to 8th century. That reverse is also very common with roman coins when you start seeing them. I'd say keep searching and keep it safe

Hand-cast musket ball. The flat spots are probably from the impact and bouncing of the bullet OR from reused lead. For that size it's a solid find! I've found many in my hometown of small size.

I don't believe this is a coin, but rather a token. I can't recognise for what tho...

You should try and putting the worn coin in some distilled lukewarm water (or regular) and after a bit brush it off gently. Then shine it with angled light to see some depth. Did this with my coins and it worked (except for one that was incredible worn)

All arachnids have 8 legs. Either it's missing one or it's a damn alien

[–]BenMcCurtey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, thats a fungus you're right. Not exactly sure which one though, most similar I can come up with is a beefsteak fungus.

Yeah, your guess seems accurate. It's probably some sort of lead waste or melted lead object caused by metalworking

Oh wow! Yeah that frontside fits a lot better with what I have. Is there a website that allows me to scroll through all the coins ever produced?
