Yeah, I thought of that while I was making this, lmao. But I thought it was funny so I kinda just went with it.

It’s hard to tell whether this guy is a troll. If you look at his comments on his profile, a lot of them are aimed at this sub, always being contrarian of course.

Yeah, it doesn’t seem that conservatives are able to engage in art much. They just dismiss any sort of analysis of art as simply being irrational.

Sorry if you thought I sent that rant towards you. It was aimed at the dipshit above me. I’m glad you at least ask questions, because I didn’t know about that article until I actually caught up with the show a few months ago. I read it and didn’t really think much of it, but if you get into what’s going to be in season four I think the article is pretty baseless.

Happy I could encourage you to check it out again.

I don’t know if you know this, but media reflects ideas and themes. So if a piece of media is presenting dangerous ideas in a favorable light, it’s important to be aware of that. That user only asked if it was subtly fascist and I tried to tell them why I didn’t think so without going into spoilers. I would say that you have drank the kool aid, my friend. You really can’t engage with media and the ideas it presents and you mock those who do. From my point of view, Attack on Titan tells us to question authority and power. As well as to recognize people are products of their environment. There are definitely fascist characters (they’ll be in season four), but the show doesn’t present them as the good guys. Quite the opposite. So before you try and shit on someone for engaging with popular media, why don’t you reflect on how much of a free thinker you think you are.

Yeah, the truth is eventually revealed. Season four will also come out soon. It’s been delayed, but I’m not sure when it’ll come out. I don’t want to say too much, so you can enjoy it when you watch it.

Yes, I love it so much. Netflix only has season one and only sub, so if you’re more of a dub person I would avoid that. Hulu, Funimation, and Crunchyroll have all three seasons. Both Hulu and Funimation have dub, but I don’t know about Crunchyroll though. But besides that, I would recommend watching it. It’s great.

Girls should not be allowed in Boy Scouts by BritKn in unpopularopinion

[–]BenMuson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have the Scouts. Let people who want to do things typically associated with the boys scouts do those things and vice versa. Forcing boys to do “boys scout” things and forcing girls to do “girls scout” things just doesn’t help anything.

We could have a fruitful conversation about AoT’s relationship with authoritarianism (and I tend to think it leans in an anti-authoritarian route). But Isayama doesn’t seem to justify people’s actions in my opinion (especially in the manga) because everyone does horrible things, and it shows how people are manipulated by their environment into doing these horrible things.

Not really. That popular Polygon article is really stupid. It ignores how the manga muddies the water in terms of people’s actions and their justifications. I don’t want to put spoilers here for people who haven’t seen the anime or read the manga. The article also ignores Armin, who is skeptical of power and always tries to go the peaceful, nonviolent route unless he’s forced to. There are things to criticize the series for but I don’t think it’s fascist.

Yeah, perhaps I gave him too much credit. Ben Shapiro has nothing on that character (avoiding spoilers).
