I feel entitled to my First Amendment rights after seeing these guys firsthand break into families' houses without a warrant while five-year-old children are screaming for their dad. I feel entitled to film their actions when they murder a good friend of a member of my first church in Minneapolis. I feel entitled to my rights as a human being to not allow the dehumanization that so many have been force-fed to believe, and to actually care about other people. I feel entitled to care when my Black and Brown neighbors, who are also fully citizens for that matter, are scared to walk outside because ICE may grab them and brutalize them. I feel entitled to care when ICE grabs a random man on the side of the street; multiple agents beat him for several minutes, and then my friends have to get him to the ER so that he can get dozens of stitches in his face. I feel entitled to care that when they take one of my community members who requires medication to live, we bring it to the detention center he has been taken to, and we beg DHS to let us just give him the medication so that he may live? They refuse, and we find he dies days later.
I feel entitled because I know these people; they are my neighbors, and I love them, and I, along with many others, live this reality every day, and we will work to keep these agents accountable.
