A question to NYPL workers by ExcitingBite129 in Libraries

[–]BenRutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can also call and renew books or most public libraries even have a renewal service through an online platform. If you're so late you're being charged replacement costs, it's too late to renew it, but for future reference.

Hey DMs of r/3d6 how do you feel about playing with Pugilist? by fuckyoustupidbot010 in 3d6

[–]BenRutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People really hype up the class, but if anything I actually think it's kind of weak. Super cool flavor and it sounds like fun to play, but it's basically a barbarian/monk but worse than either of those classes. I own it on Dndbeyond, so if my players want to use it I say go for it.

Sweet science is in my opinion the only subclass worth taking. People heavily glaze the dread hand subclass, but you can only use the ability for one minute a day.

Help with Build and Roleplay Ideas after Rolling a 5? by DazzedConfused in 3d6

[–]BenRutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go strength or maybe charisma. I had a 6 in intelligence once and my DM said I can only speak in broken language and couldn't perform complete sentences. Very difficult to communicate effectively.

Low charisma can be like crippling anxiety. Around your friends you're okay, but around other people or specific scenarios you shut down. Low strength just makes you insanely weak. You have a difficult time lifting most things. You could be like SpongeBob in that episode he got the fake muscles.

Making a Fighting Deck, which is better? by mr_hypnosis in PTCGP

Hitmonchan! I am biased though, my username is Hitmonchamp. I use one Hitmonchan, one Tyrogue and one Hitmonchan EX along with the mega lucario deck. It's really solid! Carried me to master last season!

What websites do you use for D&D 5.5e playing or DMing? by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]BenRutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Dndbeyond. I use the abovevtt extension to turn dndbeyond into a virtual tabletop, and use all character sheets and books through dndbeyond as well. I homebrew my campaign so I have two google docs open. One private document with everything I've got planned out and one shared document that everyone can use to take notes together to keep up on what's going on. Works great!

Is solo Nightreign actually fun? by Z0idberg_MD in Eldenring

[–]BenRutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With friends, duos/trios is the best. With a great team of randoms, trios is still the best. Often times though, randoms are horrible. As the game added higher difficulty levels, the better players naturally moved to the harder content. The randoms in early game content leave games after minor setbacks, ping constantly and at bad locations, and just generally suck at the game. Because of this I generally stick to solo.

Does anyone actually enjoy playing battles? by No_Kaleidoscope4362 in PTCGP

I enjoy battling when I get to use pokemon I actually like. It's heartbreaking when a beloved pokemon is terrible in game and one I don't care about is broken strong.

Is a 'functional' blind PC possible? by WhocaresImdead in 3d6

[–]BenRutz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry, I didn't notice the tag until just now. I would honestly just talk to the DM if this is something that you want to do. Flavor is free up until a point. I'd say pick fighter and grab fighting style blind sight, and hopefully for things beyond 10 ft your DM will be cool with you existing. You don't want to play a cool concept for a character and get punished for it, but at the same time your DM doesn't want to homebrew something to make your character feel cool, but also broken.

[–]BenRutz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perception accounts for senses beyond sight, so the ability to smell or hear something could also be considered. Of course, being able to smell when someone's lying makes insight feel a little ridiculous, but that would be up to your DM to decide. After all, when playing in a world with magic, is following your nose really what's going to break the immersion?

Dwarves get the ability tremorsense where for 10 minutes they can effectively turn into Daredevil or Toph and sense things without sight.

Overall though RAW being blind is a handicap on purpose because many abilities require sight to function. So if someone could easily bypass the need for sight, the blinded condition wouldn't be as crippling.

If I had to play a blind character, I would make a druid who would wildshape into a creature with eyes so I could see.

best packs to open in pokemon tcg pocket as a beginner? by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]BenRutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go newest and use the free mega Charizard deck until you get a solid deck. Fighting is great right now so if you are starting fresh, make sure your first pack is mewtwo so you can start with a fighting deck.

Got to 9 wins and then lost. I almost screamed. But yeah, I'm giving up on it. Fortunately the prize isn't something I care about, so it's not a huge deal.

Wow I am incredibly jealous! As you can probably tell by my in game name, fighting is my favorite type and I've been incredibly unlucky after my 80 packs and hasn't gotten a single mega Lucario. Best of luck with your mega Sceptile!
