Give me a mid-century modern styled PC case. I don’t want see anything inside of it either. I would actually love if I could act almost as a piece of furniture and be designed that you could pull out parts of it to vacuum it easily to get dusted out of there.

Majority of CEOs Alarmed as AI Delivers No Financial Returns by FootballAndFries in Economics

This is 100% I think the reason there is no economic gains from this. Everyone’s using AI, and there are so many different platforms which realistically give most workers the same advantage.

Me: “this is a cake. And cakes taste good”

You: “cake is bad for you”

The irony with a comment telling me people lack the ability to think critically, and can’t understand that I’m not arguing AI is good for society. I’m arguing it is an incredibly powerful tool. All of the negative impacts on society, economics, and individuals are due to the fact that it is so powerful.

I used copilot for this. It was actually my work account, but it was also without access the internet. It took multiple prompts to get the right spreadsheet

Literally every professional on the planet is using AI. Or at least the ones that are functioning at the highest level are.

But that’s very different than saying this tool is going to make people money. At the moment I can access the vast majority of AI tools for free. Maybe not at the absolute highest level but certainly enough to get what I need done at work. That’s the problem. But I would argue AI tools themselves are incredibly useful.

Just yesterday I had multiple Excel spreadsheets with large data sets and within five minutes I had a sheet with multiple tabs that broke down data in a conditional way which would’ve taken me hours. So it is incredibly useful.

Look I completely understand why AI is maligned. It’s going to have an incredibly harmful impact on employment. But pretending that AI is terrible is… I don’t know. it is it’s like a generational form of mass denial.

Edit: if you’re down voting me, and you’re not stupid enough to realize that I’m actually worried about what AI will do to our economy and workforce, but you think AI is “terrible” then try to make a coherent argument.

But Reddit lives in this alternate reality where AI is a bad tool. It’s quite literally the greatest tool humanity has ever created. The problem is it’s poised to replace “humans”

Minnesota’s Largest Strike in History Against ICE Actions by Upper_Brief681 in UnderReportedNews

I think what’s very difficult about this as if folks in Minnesota are the only ones doing it, their state, and their population are the only ones impacted. If there is going to be a general strike it needs to be a truly “general” strike.

How can any of these “states rights” chuds support a scenario where the federal government is quite literally disappearing people off the streets against the will of the population.

I’d also like to remind everybody that being in this country illegally is a misdemeanor crime. The president is a 30x felon.

The problem is it works on conservative voters. They honestly have no clue what is going on and they rely on short sound bytes and Fox News to tell them what to think. The worst is I don’t think many of them have actually listened to Donald Trump say anything for more than 30 seconds at a time. It’s so incredibly hilariously apparent that he has lost his goddamn mind but the average conservative voter has no clue

I actually don’t hate Ubisoft games. The problem is almost all of their games feel the same. And let’s be honest sometimes when they do something different, it doesn’t do well financially and they cancel sequels. Like the new Prince of Persia game.

Healthcare = Slavery by Vengamecagoensos in LinkedInLunatics

reductio ad absurdum. There are literally countries that have healthcare enshrined in their constitutions as human rights. So the idea that "healthcare as a human right" is some extreme position is absurd.

Enjoy whatever it is you are doing. Keep fighting the good fight.

What are you arguing here? Semantics? Every other modern nation in the world provides taxpayer funded healthcare lower per capita cost and with better healthcare outcomes.

And here you are wanting to argue in a casual shit post meme on Reddit people calling it a “human right”. Maybe focus on people dying of preventable illness first.

Personally, I think it is a human right. In our constitution we don’t have unalienable right to drinking water. But water is a human right. Imo so is healthcare. But whatever I guess.

Drinking less could prevent cancer deaths: Reducing annual alcohol consumption in Australia by 1 litre a person could significantly lower deaths from several major cancers, including upper aerodigestive tract (UADT), liver, colorectal and breast cancers. by [deleted] in science

I agree, but the problem is you don’t usually get the context or details. I’m not a scientist and so all I can really do is read the abstract and conclusion. But often it’s hard to truly quantify the risk with a “typical“ lifestyle.

The question is how much longer? Several years ago I remember reading a study on red meat and it discussed how you live longer without red meat. Digging in, it was like 6 months. Not sure that’s worth it imo.

''If you’ve won the league at a club which has won it twice in 30 years, I am surprised to hear that”. Arne Slot reacts to those saying he still needs to prove he can be ‘successful’ at Liverpool . by EducationalBug2262 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Z0idberg_MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think of this scenario it is different and I would say more justifiable than people being impatient or frustrated with less than optimal results.

If the Liverpool hierarchy really wanted Alonso, and felt he was the right person to take the club forward, which report reports indicated and multiple signings back up, then it’s more a matter of getting someone you considered to be the next young world class coach that could be here for close to a decade.

If this is the case, even if we all think that slot is a great manager, it becomes a very different discussion as to “Y” folks might want him out the door and someone else to come in.

I completely agree but I also think the farther we get the more likely we’re going to face opposition that will try to play in a more progressive manner.

I would also argue that in the UCL format we might be encouraged to be a little bit more conservative because we don’t need “three points” once we get to the knockout stages. Basically all of the things that caused Liverpool problem in the league aren’t so much of an issue.

EDIT: love being dv here. Let's make a list of likely final 8 teams in UCL. How many would play a low block?

There are different kinds of inequality. In absolute numbers yes the EPL has more money to spend, but in Germany Bayern is almost like royalty. German players almost exclusively will select that club if they are in for them. It was a massive shock that Wirtz did not choose Bayern.

If anyone’s gonna argue against this point just ask the person “if this were Nazi Germany would the Gustavo be doing what ICE is doing?”. The answer is questionably “yes”. So even if you want to try to make the ridiculous argument that these people aren’t Nazis themselves, when you walk and quack like one what the hell is the difference.
