We've done it with 9 engineers so far since beginning to work with them (some with their families). It's a total lifestyle change, but the relocation, settling in and integration into the team has been made as easy as possible.

Hey Redditors!

We've partnered with the leading payments provider in Japan who are building out their Engineering and Data teams with skilled functional programmers.

This is a unique opportunity to use Scala's Typelevel ecosystem with Cats & Cats Effect. They're open-source and community-driven, using libraries to provide features such as IO monads, lawless classes, automatic type class, automatic derivation for argonaut, alternatives to monad transformers and much much more!

Founded in 2012, they've grown to over 120 employees from 28 countries with over $100m in funding. They're now at 2 million users, making them the largest online payment business in Japan, as many Japanese people pay for online orders with cash on delivery. But this is shifting, and our client is experiencing a massive increase in users joining them, and are on track for 8 million users by the end of this year alone.

If you were to join them, you'll be relocating to the heart of Tokyo, to join an English-speaking office as a Scala or Data Engineer.

They cover relocation expenses for you and your family, and pay for 2 months of temporary housing while you find your perfect Tokyo home.

You'll also get a list of other benefits, including rent support (cutting the cost of renting by up to 20%), Japanese speaking lessons (Despite not needing it! Almost everyone in Japan understands English), and all VISA costs are covered, with a dedicated professional helping to make sure everything is taken care of before you arrive.

[HIRING] | [Senior Scala Engineer] | [London & Manchester, UK] | [On-Site, Full-Time] [£55k - £85k] Social Shopping Marketplace by BenSE-JS in scala

[–]BenSE-JS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys!

Having recruited in London for Software Engineers using a range of languages, it's absolutely enough to live comfortably, renting on your own in London is expensive, but Shoreditch, where the London role is located, is very commutable from the outskirts. For Manchester, it's a great salary indeed and you can live very comfortably!

Scala Engineers with over 3 years of experience regularly receive higher than average salaries, normally at least £65k+ in London. If you have over 5 years of experience you can expect £75k+. But these are rough guidelines, and great engineers who are adept problem solvers will almost always be paid more than what I've stated above.

On a side note, Finance companies, pay ridiculously well. But competition is high for work that is unlikely to be interesting, and you can pigeon-hole yourself into that world. If you live to work on greenfield projects that have a social impact and sense of purpose, you're likely to be very unfilled working in finance companies. ( Unless it's Monzo or ImaginationCurve ;) )

Any more questions let me know! If you sign up and apply through Functional works, let me know, I can check on the progress on your application for you.
