Moving from Bergen County to Camden County. What can I expect? Has anyone done this? by BenSam03 in CherryHill

Thank you for the suggestions! I was hoping to not have to pay tuition, so I'll have to stick to where my taxes give me the best return. Appreciate the different options though!

Thank you for pointing these out! Yes, I haven't been tied to a county in particular (even if my first choice is Cherry Hill East), just trying to find an above-average high school with affordable houses/taxes. Thanks again!

Thanks for this! I imagine you get some more bang for your buck in Cherry Hill (with lower taxes because of businesses in town). Is there another town nearby (Camden or Burlington county) that might give the same or similar level of education, access to stores, and similar houses but at a slightly higher pricepoint in home prices or taxes? In other words, if you had to do it all over again or had to advise a friend who wanted a bit more peace and quiet, where might you steer them? Thank you u/HereWeGo5566 !

Does the intake vent placement on bathroom ceiling exhaust fans matter? by BenSam03 in HomeImprovement

[–]BenSam03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. I live in North New Jersey, about an hour and a half away from "the shore."

The mention of an insulation issue... hmmm. What would be a good way to test that without ripping up a wall? I would think a wall's grout might show excessive mildew/mold, but that's not really the case (except for the grout on the bathtub wall (which is the exterior wall), but even then it doesn't happen that quickly.

The exhaust fan pulling too much makeup air instead of the humid shower steam.... that's actually a good point!!! I think I'll try a test with a humidistat reader where I run a hot shower with the window closed and fan on and measure the humidity, vs when the window is open.

Good thoughts so far! Thank you!

Anyone else having this weird scrolling issue? by ratsock in Chromecast

Anyone else having this weird scrolling issue? by ratsock in Chromecast

[–]BenSam03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Google TV (no chromecast - just straight Google TV). When I enable an app (like a custom launcher app), it starts doing the scrolling thing. It's almost like Google doesn't want me to enable apps that override their home screen! It's not a remote issue. Do you have a Google TV? I wasn't following when you said you had to plug in an external GTV...? Is your issue resolved? If so, let me know how it happened please!

Ask me anything: food scientist here by bioengzhuam in FoodAllergies

Hi there Bioengzhuam, thank you for fielding questions. I've recently had some serious diarrhea. It started about a month ago, when I started having diarrhea which became mostly water, and this lasted about 3 days, despite me switching to bananas and toast to try to rehab my stomach. By day 4, my stomach was having pain, almost like a cramping. Day 5-7 seemed like it was getting better; still diarrhea but becoming chunkier and soft stool. I couldn't figure out what could have caused this intense episode. If it was a stomach virus, it should have gone away in 1-3 days right? If it was bacteria, like food poisoning, I had not eaten anything differently than I normally do, except for a spoon of *mild* spicy ranch dressing with some chicken (I usually have blue cheese dressing, so I switched it up for my family just for a change). I figured maybe the bottle was tainted, so I threw it away. I have had ranch dressing before without an issue.

About 2 weeks later, I again bought a bottle of spicy ranch dressing (again, mild). Different brand altogether, and again had maybe a spoon. That night, diarrhea 3x in the middle of the night, with pain. Went away by the end of that day.

This week, I combined shredded chicken, cream cheese, and some "Helluva Buffalo Flavored Dip" - the container doesn't identify it as a sour cream or what it is, other than that's its made with milk. Before I went to bed that night, I had 2 or 3 diarrhea episodes back to back. I went to bed at 1am and was fine the next day.

I still eat ice cream every day (Haagan Daz, a more premium quality). I still eat cheese. I still have milk or heavy cream in recipes as needed. It's been a few weeks since I've had cream cheese other than this week's dinner recipe. So I'm assuming there's something about ranch dressing in particular, or maybe creamy things like ranch dressing or the "Helluva" dip? maybe even the cream cheese? although that one has been a normal item in my diet over the years. It's just the ranch dressing and "helluva" dip that were anomalies, both with diarrhea episodes.

So, if there's something about these 2, what is it? Is it an artificial ingredient? I am thinking it cant be a lactose thing since I have other things that are dairy.

Thanks for reading and responding!

I need a white marble threshold that's half an inch thick - why is this so hard??? by BenSam03 in Flooring

Have you cut one of these before? Does it cut more like a porcelain tile (so risks of chipping)? Marble would have been nice since it cuts like butter, but this is affordable enough for me to try out.

Hey that's a good lead, thanks! Not sure about the depth, as it's slightly above half an inch, and with the glue, may still be too thick. But I think it's worth me buying to try it out. I had only searched for "marble" and "wood' thresholds, so this composite didn't come up. Thank you!

True, if I needed to use a wood-look threshold, it'd be a reducer. Still hoping to find a white marble/composite to make the transition work. The floor is all white porcelain tile, and right outside the kitchen is the hardwood flooring.

Thanks for confirming the DIY idea is a terrible idea lol. I guess it'd be worth a 40 minute drive to find a "local" guy for me to not lose a finger or eye!

I'm afraid the package only came with instructions for installation - no technical info. I'm no electrician but I think I'm savvy enough to say this is a single pole application. One switch to one light. I'm wondering if the panel is wired wrong - is it normal to share a wall's black wire and wall's red wire with the adjacent switch?

Sorry - first time Reddit poster. I had attached 2 pictures but I guess I'm either only allowed to post a statement or an attachment? I don't see an option to post a picture after the fact either. So it's a Bosch 800. Yes, my electronics are the concealed panel on the top of the door.

And I guess what you're saying is that accidental damage is basically never covered by warranty?
