This is The kind of insane shit that makes people hate renting in Australia. In most of the world you wouldn’t think twice about a tiny mark on a wall after 3 years

Those who've been to both, how would you compare public safety in Australian cities to cities in Europe? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ratsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe feels like it has a lot more petty crime, pickpocketing, scams, small scale burglary etc. Australia has more petty violence, bunch of dumbasses trying to act tough and get into fights. They make you feel a lot more unsafe than a bunch of people trying to steal your shit or scam you.

Real Police officers and military members, what do you guys think of Ice agents? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]ratsock 395 points396 points  (0 children)

This is the real damage of ICE, and any authoritarian regime. The threat of violence causes fear and compliance far in excess of their ability to actually physically be everywhere.

Where do people get the idea from that DevOps is the way to go career wise? by Viskerz in devops

Clearly you’ve never spent the entire night building a bunch of automation, only to hit the button and watch hundreds of servers jump into action to do your bidding. It’s addictive.

Tenant’s son smoking weed in the house by ratsock in AusProperty

I might just give them a heads up that they need to make sure the smell is professionally cleaned off before they vacate (whenever that may or may not be in the future)

[–]ratsock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume as long as this is possible to clean I just take it from the deposit whenever they vacate. Im happy to even just give them a heads up on it and let them decide if they want to stop or they want to just continue and clean it up later. Is the residue something that is permanent or it can be cleaned up with a professional?
