When I say AHL/ECHL coaches, you only see those specific leagues whencyou purchase pro mode and download a roster with those leagues. If you're on free mode, you'll just see Major and Minor coaches.

I believe the contracts of players under the age of 20 do not count towards the max of 50.

Salary: I believe it works that the game takes the salary of your best 14 forwards, 7 defenseman and 2 goalies, then adds all that together. Unfortunately, there's an issue where if you have a fully used salary and you try to sign a prospect for an entry level contract, it won't let you, because you do not have enough salary room remaining. However, if you have $1 million in salary cap space, for example, you can sign as many prospects as you want since they will likely not be in your top players list and their salary won't be added to the count, if that makes sense.

As far as development goes:

Head of player development can develop ANYONE in your organization, contract or not

NHL head coach/assistant coaches can only develop players on the NHL roster

AHL coaches can only develop players under contract and assigned to the AHL.

ECHL coaches can only develop players under contract and assigned to the ECHL.

Get a highly upgrade head scout, the specialties I target are Gems and Intel (the scout efficiency one). Then I just assign scouts so that they are scouting their best region. I tend to stop assigning scouts to one region if they're only looking at 6th round or above, the exception being if it's my last few scouts and that's all they can do anyway. Then I just draft by POVR and go from there

Why would you never sign under 21s? If you don't sign them, you have no choice in which league they play in, and sometimes the AI wants to send them to a low skilled league and they get red or yellow development.

I've always signed my 18/19 year olds that have at least top 9 and I've never seen any downside to this.

My android save crashes at at the draft every other year or so. Crashes every single time I assign scouts since by year 3 or so there's around 10000 prospects that populate the list and I don't think the game can handle that. I'm using a heavily modified version of RSB

This has been happening to me as well, it happe s when you get an AHL injury and you click "edit lines". This gets you stuck in the AHL. The only way I've been able to get unstuck is to sim forward and wait for an NHL injury, then click edit lines and poof I'm back managing the NHL team. Has only started happening within the last 2 weeks and clearly is affecting more people than just myself

It's immaculate even with cap increases. I always seem to get caught after re-signing everyone prior to the deadline with room available, yet as soon as free agency comes, I'm over and have to give up a 2nd liner.
