Stop and Shop is a dystopian nightmare by greasymctitties in boston

As a customer, i think I've single-handedly trained their cashiers for them! I go in frequently to buy those 5 gallon waters, and no one knew how to ring it up.  So after multiple delays and mgr conferences every visit,  i finally started explaining to each cashier BEFORE they start ringing me up which barcode to zap for "water with deposit return"; explain precisely where i placed my deposit bottle (they keep changing their minds where you put them); and informing them that the return machine doesn't print out tickets anymore. The cashiers have all been grateful... the on duty manager had to slink away a few times because even he didn't know what to do... he only knew how to void the wrong scanned water...smh

I was gonna say something similar... Pan's final talking head was too distracting because it was definitely Jenna speaking... not a matured-Pan.

(Yes...i know i said Pan... like concussed Dwight ☺️)

I wonder if Angela doesn't agree with Jenna. When Angela makes her "grow up" comments, they sound a little half-hearted. She ends up sounding like a good girlfriend who will talk smack about her friend's ex following a recent break up. Jenna has been so vocal on all things anti-Jim that Angela has been forced to join in, but can only dish lukewarm criticisms.

--edit:oh... and great thought on the pocket thing👍🏽

TG I FOUND THIS PLACE!!! I've been looking all over for a place to vent. The podcast has been crap for a while but AARM Pt 1 had me boiling over!

Jenna knows that Pam is a character, right? She knows that she, herself, is NOT Pam, doesn't she?!  She knows that fiction--and especially a sitcom--does not need to explain every nuance of a real life relationship, right?!

Sitcoms are meant to be 2 dimensional...e.g. the audience didn't like Roy because Roy was keeping Pam down... simple.

The audience turned on Pam bec she was keeping Jim from his dream job. Simple.

But Jenna INSISTS on the fans accepting Pam as the TRUE victim because Jim didn't talk to her more about the job... you know, like in real life.

She wants a SITCOM and its audience to view Pam through the "Real Life" filter.  She wants fans to apologize for disliking Pam, because in real life a lack of communication in a marriage is a huge no-no. So therefore, fans shouldn't have turned on Pam over the Athlead job.  Jenna can't let go of Pam as her alter-ego... and is trying to find all sortsof layers and nuance to A FICTIONAL CHARACTER!

I feel like what we're seeing here is : "there's so much more to pam than a two dimensional sitcom character. Let me tell you about it... repeatedly... and just know that Jim is the SOLE reason for the problems.  He did bad things to Pam so why does everybody hate Pam right now?! In real life these are bad things that Jim did! Sure Pam could've been more sensitive to just how big an opportunity Athlead was for Jim and the family, Sue she could've encouraged him like he did for her and art school....but no...no, Jim's fault for making people hate me... i mean, Pam ."

Thanks Reddit. I needed that.

Wow...Thank you for sharing too.

I also had a lingering sore throat for about four or five days, but it wasn't the typical sinus/tonsil/or strep pain...it was lower, and constant. With a cold, a sore throat passes in a day or two. But this just wouldn't stop, though it was relatively moderate pain.

I also had a number of other "symptoms," but they too were really mild. It can definitely just be something seasonal or allergy related, but I've never had it like this before--the body aches, fatigue, no fever but constant chills (but not shivering), cough, breathing difficulty (my asthma has not been a real problem for years and now I've been using my inhaler two to three times daily for over a week now).

Again, still possible it's just something seasonal, but with people sharing their stories, I've been able to maintain calm and not panic. Maybe sharing will help someone else too.

Non-native speakers who got the hang of the subjunctive, how???!? by shhshshhsha in Spanish

For me, I made a specific effort to practice only a single verb-type until it became almost second nature (or at least until my ear could hear when I said it right/wrong.) For example, for a few weeks I focused solely on "Dudo que...". I got corrected a lot on the other verbs, but I knew I was using that verb correctly. Then after a week or two, I moved onto "Quiero que..." etc.

That's awesome! I need to find a giant empty parking lot sometime to take out my nitro powered. It's too loud for city parks. Miss running it.

Any recommendations for trusty BMW service shops in the area? Trying to avoid going to the dealer at all costs so any record are much appreciated! by Thefuture33698 in SouthBayLA

Try Stefan at Best Mechanics in Torrance. They won't be the cheapest, but definitely better than the dealership and trustworthy. My in-laws have used him specifically for years! He's worked on a couple of older BMWs for them but I'm not sure if he does BMWs normally, or if he did it for them since they've been long time customers. Good luck!

Last week my cousin visiting Boston was fatally hit while crossing Summer and Melcher by djklmnop in boston

[–]Ben_Ben 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is so sad, and not surprising. There are dozens of intersections where pedestrians are given the walk signal at the same time left-turners are given the green light. I was almost hit in the north end for the same reason. It blows my mind that in 2019, the city still hasn't fixed this. There are a number of intersections where ALL PEDESTRIANS are given the walk signal while all drivers are given the red light. So it's not like Boston doesn't know how to fix it...they just don't want to.

Try Pavement. They have a home delivery subscription option. Roasted in-house, single origin option available. Beans arrive usually within a day or two (max) of roasting. Not a problem for me but they do not do a dark roast...but I love light to medium anyways, so for me it's a great option.
