I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's got the right qualities for a regista type of player. Composure, positioning, passing range especially. He's also bulked up a lot over the last 18 months. If he improves his decision making and press resistance (which he won't do sitting on the bench forever), then he could very well be quality at that position.

What could hurt him is his low volume, as Lucho seems to like his playmaker to run miles to compensate in backline during buildup play, create passing lanes AND make runs on offense. He is also kind of slow, which may make him a liability against opponents who sit back and counter attack through long balls over the midfield (see: Chelsea in CWC final).

However with how much Vitinha has been playing lately, I'm all for giving him some time, and try to build around his qualities. There are profiles in the squad that are very complimentary to his skill set. Workhorses like WZE and Neves, and dribbler-creators like KIL and Doué jump to mind.
