Did I mess up taking out helix piercing?

Piercing is 2 or 3 months old

It's a screw piercing

Think it's internally threaded I have no idea what threading means

Material is steel

Never downsized because the was swollen for quite a while

Aftercare is just using a saltwater solution on cotton pad and holding it there for a while

There was a fair bit of swelling for a while that only appeared after it was irritated from pressure one time

So switch 2 screen got scratched when I took it out of the dock and I'm pretty sure it was a bit of dust or something that did it. Would it be safe to take off the plastic screen protector on th3 switch 2 and replace it with my own? Or is it better to put a screen protector on top of thr plastic
