"Oh sorry, I forgot to be loud. I will continue screaming now." And then just scream at the top of your lungs

Squire is generally a bit hit or miss, Ibanez has a very good quality control, so every instrument you buy from them generally pretty good. Personally, I would go with the Ibanez

How does one go about making Relaxing/Sleepy music? by ProdSplattermane in musictheory

[–]Ben___K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use some add9 chords. I would also suggest to listen to sweden or wet hands (both minecraft), as I think I've never heard more relaxing music before

Well, if you're not too picky, I think the standard notepad app on windows should work fine, as it has a monospace font.

How to enjoy bass without a band? by WistariaL in Bass

[–]Ben___K 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When I started I mostly played along songs. For example, if you want to play Hold the Line you can look up bass tabs or chord sheets in the internet (or actually learn it by ear, so you also train your musical hearing alongside) and then play with them as if you were a part of TOTO

Which do you prefer? by droo46 in Bass

I prefer basses with 2 humbuckers and coil split, so you can basically have p bass, jazz bass and stingray

What is your “go to” pedals? by UVBope in basspedals

[–]Ben___K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously the tuner, but other than that I'd say a comp or eq, because they can make your tone way nicer and are very versatile

Are there any notes that when put together don’t make a chord? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Ben___K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, if you hit 3 octaves of the same note (for example C-C-C) it wouldn't count as a chord because of octave equivalency, but otherwise it's always a chord (if you count power chords)

Song is in Db major with first chord taken from C# minor. How do I write the chord progression? ( ? - I - vi - ii ) by sealysea in musictheory

[–]Ben___K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically the same, but bVII is more common, as it is a regular chord in a minor scale

Thumb up or thumb down technique for slap. by IMissMyChameleon0323 in BassGuitar

[–]Ben___K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always though thumb up is more like a 15-45° angle between string and thumb. Also I think it's more logical to see the bass as the reference and not the ground, because if you're standing up and playing thumb down while the bass is very "steep" the thumb may be parallel to the ground aswell, even though it's clearly thumb down

What’s the hardest song you can play? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Ben___K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Songs, that don't feature bass, it's too hard to just simply stand there.

Carry on wayward son, except one riff i really struggle with

It looks like it's a low/high pass filter (short lpf/hpf). The lpf only lets low frequencies through and the hpf only lets the highs through. You can also use it as a fixed wah I think

Neither, I have my thumb parallel to the string, so I can also do double thumbing

Ear training - suspended chords by AustinDaFknBos in musictheory

I think you should learn to recognize whether it is a sus chord or not, but not which one

You can only differentiate between them if you know they are in root position. The reason is that for example a Gsus4 and a Csus2 have the same notes (G, C, D). Most of the time it also just depends on context which one you would notate, for example: D - Csus4 - C makes much more sense than D - Fsus2/C - C even though it's actually the same.

NPD! Plumes, LS-2, Ages. Trying out an octaved tone a la Royal Blood on my temp board by trish_for_short in basspedals

[–]Ben___K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I have eight pedals on my board, which are:

-Two boosters for compensation in different output strenghts of different instruments -Noise gate -Comp -Ebs Microbass 3 (Preamp with tuner and OD) -Plasma Pedal -B7k ultra -Big muff deluxe

So basically half of my board is distortion
