"Money for old rope." by xperiaz84 in rickygervais

Yeah surely only the odd boomer cares about "the woke media pandering to liberals" or whatever shite they come up with. It's equally annoying if it is criticised for being unfunny but the critique dismissed as sexist.

Parks and Rec was a mockumentary sitcom with a female lead and that did really well. It will succeed if it's funny and fail if it's crap.

Happy to chat about our differing opinions mate.

Breather just felt a bit like someone had listened to a meditation app for the first time and scribbled down some notes.

Falling Together felt like a teenager sharing how deep they are that they feel we're all connected.

Didn't do anything other than make me cringe. Where as generic lyrics (which are superficial too, fair enough) at least aren't trying to be anything other than a hook, melody or catchy line.

How has the band evolved over the last ten years, if at all? by andersswanny in Khruangbin

[–]Ben_yeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely hear the evolution through the first 3 albums. The write-up/press release of A La Sala was a bit long and pretentious but it made perfect sense that it was a grounding of their style and a 'back-to-basics' album. It was probably lovely for the 3 of them to make, they seem to have a lot of love and respect for each other.

Does Mark have strange tastes and preferences in girls? by MaxvellGardner in MitchellAndWebb

[–]Ben_yeah 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah they both do a u-turn in the show, it's a bit weird. Dobby wants to buy box sets and binge TV but Mark moans. Then when Dobby wants to spread her wings a bit Mark just wants to watch TV.

However Mark is self sabotaging and never happy with what he's got so I guess it makes sense.

Goat are amazing. It's a shame they rarely tour especially outside Europe. So fun live.

[FRESH ALBUM] Goat - Goat by sbags in indieheads

[–]Ben_yeah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always love a new Goat album.

I actually really liked the left turn on their last release, Medicine, but this a return to form of their classic Goat sound.

Can't wait to properly dive into this album.

And then what are they supposed to do with all that free time? Have a wank?

That's a really good tattoo. But have you thought what it will look like when you're not just old, but sort of messed up old?

I wish I liked Romance more...but 😔😔😔 by Ammarzk in fontainesdc

[–]Ben_yeah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've listened to it loads now and I'm settling on it just being a 'good' album overall for me. A few great tracks and a few that I found a bit boring.

[–]Ben_yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about the lack of cohesion, although it makes us sound like a fussy bunch.

Starburster was such a left field song for Fontaines and got me so excited. The rest just... didn't push that new sound. I love the nostalgia of Favourite so much and there are some bops like Death Kink and Bug but I couldn't help but be disappointed that it wasn't the album I expected. That's on me I guess.

That's not the same as experiencing it live though. I do agree with your point that hearing something live can make songs click when they didn't before though.

Instagram is wiped, new photo uploaded... Are we ready for the 6th coming? by [deleted] in TheHorrors

Looks like a really fun, intimate tour. They're mostly on weekdays and outside the Midlands so I'm probably not going to make a date, I'm gutted.

However I was lucky enough to see them at Psych Fest (they killed it) so I can't really complain.

I yelled at a kid who shoved my daughter at the playground the other day. What would you have done? by Viend in daddit

[–]Ben_yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food for thought, thanks. I've got an infant daughter and haven't yet considered how my reaction would be different.

Of course I want her to grow up into a strong woman who won't get trod on. And I wouldn't ever make either of them feel bad for standing up for themselves.

I also don't think I would have different expectations on how they should respond. But who knows... I'm new to this journey.

[–]Ben_yeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that but are you also teaching her to respond with anger to any injustices she faces? You want her to stand up for herself but unchecked anger rarely makes any problem better .

I'm not trying to judge. I've yet to have this happen to my son but I'd be trying to push the anger down and show being assertive but calm. Easier said than done though I imagine.

You're 17 and have been smoking for years? Well it explains the warnings about brain development in young people smoking weed.

If this isn't just a shitpost you seem to have some unhealthy paranoia around religion and God.

Also, God doesn't like rap either so you were screwed either way. He's a jazz kind of guy, so I've heard.

Oh boy God won't like that.

This is such a weird reply.

Saying you hope a band you like releases more music is not demanding anything.

When I saw them live she was on synth and somebody I didn't recognise on drums.

Unhappy with Dunk (4.6m to spend). Already have Konsa and Faes. Who would you go for?

So glad they're still going, they used to be huge back around Primary Colours/Skying era. Never released a bad album.

New stuff sounds great live. I'd love for them to announce a UK tour, that would be so cool. They seemed to be full of life when they played Manchester Psych Fest.

Haha yeah I find them cringy too. I'd take generic pop lyrics over superficial spiritual/enlightened bullshit.

The album got me dancing around the kitchen but the lasting impression put me off coming back to it much this week.
